I am signed up for the Friday Lost Rider nOOb ride
Yesterday went up 33 in hopes of making a dirt loop with Sierra Madre ridge road
Don't think I will ever tire of this road
Up and over the first summit, dropped 20 degrees in 4k feet of elevation gain
Slowed down through the bends with my eyes wide for ice...the temp guage began to blink after it reached 37
Came around a sharp turn to see a line of cars...there had been an accident
Never a good sign to see a chopper on scene

I did chat up the boyscouts and scout leaders while we waited to be let through the scene...one car accident...one person left in Ambulance..the other concious, but hurt; left in the Helo
The scouts were off for their first camping trip...it was going to be one chilly one for em..

After being let through the scene the roads certainley didn't improve, kept thinking about the accident and the flag man's words of "People don't respect this mountain. I have scene so many one vehicle accidents here"
As I climbed to go over the last of the summits I was in the clouds, temps dropped down into the high 20s,a mist / light rain, my hands were frozen, windscreen was covered with ice and I was getting nervous. Turned around at one point only to turn around again and drive on with hopes it would be better in the valley.
It was, but I was done...my hands hurt so bad I swore my thumbs would be black with frost bite when I took my gloves off...this is with grip heaters too...dang I need to get some hand guards with good wind protection...MSR E-Ears
Stopped for some coffee, warmed up and made it a paved loop around 166 to Foxen Canyon to home...not many pics, but I did get this one at 75mph
That's a cool (cold) ride you did yesterday! Nice scenery - glad your thumbs weren't frostbitten!

These should hook up just a little better than the garbage stock tires
That would be fun. I may have some time in July or Aug. I'll see what my schedule looks like after we're done in AK and get back down to NV.

It sure is, I have been wrapped up in a C.E.R.T. training course the last few weekends though and haven't been able to get out.
Last week we learned triage and basic disaster medical treatment. Both valuable skills if you are going to roll with UpST8!
This Saturday is search and rescue, so once again...
All kidding aside though, I have been learning good stuff and its good to be able to give back to the community. Also, I hope I never need it but a bunch of this could be good to know while riding in the middle of nowhere.
Not to mention I got a neat green hard hat and whistle!

Couldn't get the front Mitas E-07, or didn't want it?
Did not want...think the TKC80 will hook up better in the dirt. Was going to do TKC up front and Heineken K60 on the back, but saw these Mitas and said "ooooooooo"
I'm now sporting a set of Mitas E-07's on the F650GS. There is a chance that you'll need to replace the TKC before the Mitas based on what mileage others are getting.

Keep the TKC aired up and stay on the throdle,,it'll last as long if not longer then the K60.
Even on big bikes i run a dirt tire up front and a DS tire on rear,and get bout the same wear.
I ran a set of TKC's at Roaming Rally on a 1100GS.The front looked good after 1700 miles,the rear was shot.The rear also started shreading knobs on the pavement at high speeds.
I ran a K60 on a 950ADV at Cromag this year,and did the hero sections with 7 Lc8's.Its was good single track even on a little bike.The only complaint was traction on the steeper hills.
The guys i ride with Boatman,etc have been liking the K60/K70 but i dont think anyones seen more then 4000 miles on one,on KTM SE's,and ADV's.
