If you read manuals on dirt oriented motorcycles of all brands, they also reference hours. Just KTM/Husky are the only smart ones to include them stock. My old Yamaha FZ6 had some toggle where I could see total hours, but it was buried in the 9283475 different digital cluster diagnostics you could perform.

I had a slack job once. It was so slack that Danny started a thread mocking me...

    Bought 2015 500EXC new in December 2014. 250hrs 6800 miles

Only had to adjust valves once.

No issues other than regular maintenance stuff.

Different strokes for different folks. Those 2012+ KTM 450/500 singles are just really good bikes. You can find some plated 450s in the $5k range if you look hard enough.

The 2009-2011 KTM530s have a pretty hip following as well. Not as tech advanced, but some guys said they regret selling their 530s for the 500s due to FI.

Probably had something to do with what their, and your perception of intended use were. If someone said, "I want to ride a 650 thumper touring back roads and dirt roads." I'd throw it out there first thing. Especially on a modest budget and "low maintenance" minded. Not all drank oil like an alcoholic at a wine tasting.

I would never think of continually riding mine in the woods unless I was training for a hare scramble.

Borrowed a 2008 KLR a few years ago to ride the UBCDT.

That's definitely not a bike I would ever consider buying.

With that said... it never skipped a beat but used a chitload of oil. :eekers

I know... I didn't need a GPS to mark the route... I just followed the trail of oil. :lol3
