Anyone interested in a deal
Don't tempt me. I have been avoiding the ATK/Cannondale's.
The Subframe is reinforced at the forward bolt with a plate. The Pannier mount also has a lower link that goes from the lower front corner to the lower subframe to main frame mount that transfers a part of the load down and forward. Counting these two mounts the pannier frame attaches at eight points and it also reinforces the Aluminum subframe too. By using the .065 wall Stainless instead of Carbon steel I ended up with a rack that only weighs 15lbs but can support 25lbs per can (I probably had more in it last trip) plus the added fuel on the LH side. Bike weighs in at 330lbs in a certified scale with both tanks full and the hard cans mounted but empty.
I think it got up to 18deg F today, I might just rid to work tomarrow...
We're in a cold snap here. Didn't get above 60-ish! Down in the upper 30s at nite.
Still ended up out running with the dog tho. Just hadta put on a base layer.
Rode the GS-Adv to work. Hadta put on a light fleece under my poseur suit's (aka Rallye 2) jacket. I keep lookin at these jhavelina tracks thru the desert wondering WhereTF does THAT go? ...but am too skeered to take the GS-Adv out there to find out.
Woke up late so did not ride. It was about 8Deg F when I left the house.
Can any of you guys help me with a little information?
I have a set of Motard wheels from my old ATK 350DS, do you know what other bikes the Talon Hubs suit, i assume ATK didn't get their own custom hub, instead they would have used an existing Husky/KTM/BMW hub.
Any information would be appreciated. I contacted Talon head office, but they were totally useless, they just suggested i contact the Australian Distributor......
How would he be expected to know about a small US manufacturer, using Talon
If you don't get any info here, Thumper Talk has a good 'exotics' section where a lot of the posters from the ATK forums post too. Unfortunately, the ATK forums where the most info about these bikes was in one place seems to be dead.
You may try contacting American Dirt Bike for more info. FWI know, Katoom parts are most interchangeable.
You want to sell them?
I'm Australia, shipping could get expensive!!!
Not my photo
My cousin rode his 97? 98? 605 on the TAT this year.
He is as mechanically inclined as a road cone... so me and my father (also an ATK owner) are his mechanics.
Where'd he put the extra fuel?
2.5gal rear tank. Company in Australia makes them. Actually for a KTM I think.
Sits on top of the fender, and the NON exaust side comes down and integrates into the number plates...
We RE fabricated all the rear fender hangers and braces etc to accept it. Fits nice once done.
Sorry these are the best pictures I have of it right now (computer crash last month, still trying to retrieve all the files off the old one)...
I'd like to see what y'all did to that subframe... I hear they're not designed to support weight.
Did the bike handle differently?
Did he run the rear tank out first?
Always ran the rear tank out first. We did throw in a bunch of sports for the sub frame, being that he was hauling fuel, his 225lb butt, and the LARGE back pack full of gear....
How much for that tank? Who makes it?
Guess what's gonna be in my garage Tues nite?
Um. . . . . . uh . . . . . . .KLR650?
You are SO smart!!
How'd you guess?!
Hey Gummee, you do realize we will require photos the minute you get it!
