Yesterday at Olompali State Park.
I can't remember what they called this big kettle/pot, but it was in active use for cooking at one time.......
37 going on 2.............
One of the old barns.........
At the base of it........
Put the camera through a peep hole..........
Stopping for a battery change.........
This is called 'the salt house'.....
And this is 'salty' taking a break.........
I love what the leathers do for me in this pic
This is called 'kitchen rock'.
Apparently it was used by the Miwok Indians (native Americans) in a mortar/ pestle type application to grind corn and other things......
Outside the old main stucco/adobe house....
Great pics!! I love old buildings!! I could spend days and days poking thru old barns, abandoned houses and such, especially around the area where my folks live...unfortunately, I would end up getting shot by some old farmer
I love the pixies of the old buildings PD, you sure have an eye for the right shot angle
Peep hole pictures
Here's one I took at a church in Croatia (hope you don't mind)
(psssst...need more jelly)
It looks like a scalding kettle. After a hog was butchered, it was dipped in hot water to loosen the hair, so that it could be scraped off. You don't want hair on your ham or bacon, do you? oser

great pics, and thanks for the entertainment. Its much needed as I sit here awaiting a foot of snow for tomorrow. Winter never bothered me.... until I started riding. Now I daydream of relocating somewhere just for the riding.
Thank goodness I had no plans this weekend, and it is 5 degrees out. All 155 pages kept me entertained.
I promise to try and keep up from now on, DP.
Loved every page of it!
Northern California is loooking goood!
FYI It's probably called the Salt House because it's a Saltbox house. The roof line resembles a salt baox from the period when these houses were originally built.
His squish will be on you.
