It just doesnt have that Tiger Growl!

One pet peeve I have with that bike are those darn cables that go right in front of hte instrument cluster.....Couldnt the designers found a better placement so that they wouldnt block your view?

I did find the bike had a more relaxed leg placement than my Tiger. Definetely better for those mega-mile days if your tall.

Last autumn, whilst looking for a replacement for my ageing TL1000S, I test-rode the Honda CB1000R, KTM 990 SMR and SMT, Tiger 1050 and the Super Ten. The Yam was well-balanced with good mid range and responded well to higher revs too. In fact it could hustle along pretty well and I agree with TDP in that it was easy to ride. It handled well enough and disguised its bulk once on the move. IMHO however, it just wasn't anything special and was just too damned expensive. There was only one bike on the list that I didn't want to stop riding and only one that I didn't want to take back! If the paperwork is sorted, I pick up my Tiger this weekend! Woohoo! :D

Yes, the tenere def is easier on the legs. One thing I picked up on right away...

I'll do a little write up later tonight on the yamaha.
Playing catch up now with work :D

'easier on the legs?'.....maybe it's easier to push than the Tiger? At least we learned it's not easy to bump start a Tiger.

5'10" and almost flat footing it.
I did not, much to the dealers joy, have the chance to pick it up. :D

    I'm still formulating an opinion..
Was very easy to ride though.
Def a twin and has a bit of vibration to it, but so did the Multi and so does the GS.
The overall ergo's were just fine... Good leg position for longer legs.
Very easy to maneuver standing on the pegs and doing tight U turns...
I didn't like the bike at all when I first jumped on, but as I started to play with it at really slow speeds I realized how well balanced the bike felt..
Zero fear of a drop, easy to get off the side stand, easy to roll on the throttle.
Not as 'smooth' as the tiger, but just different.
I had to ride with the other 1200 bikes in mind in it's class to give it a fair shake...

Did put it through the gears chasing my bike on the way home and was pleasantly surprised..
Not the quick accel of the multi, but it's also not claiming to have it...

    Linked brakes which were unremarkable.

Def not as bulky feeling as the GS and not the anchor dragging feeling of the Stelvio :lol3.
Felt closer to the multi or the KTM as far as over all rideability.
Nothing super impressive about the square lines, but really not a bad ride.

Would be nice to give it a try off the pave to feel the versatility of it.

Fortunately, I'm not really in the market for a new bike.
I'd probably still get another Tiger if I was, but the idea of cheaper repair/service bills and parts has entered my mind on more than one occasion......

Cool. Enjoy your bike reviews and comparisons too.

Hey, you know I'm into photography too if you ever need another assistant like the guy helping to steady you on the railing.

Warmest regards from the far and frozen north, Mark H.

Ya. Already had to explain that to Ian.
I pin my L knee against the tank when I'm standing on the pegs and going to use my left hand to take a pic..for balance.
