I never did figure out what this was about. I checked the MOA web site and I read the articles in the ON magazine but it was all confusing. I was interested in joining one of the rides to Salem but I couldn't figure out how from the information I found. I just did my own thing to Salem and back.

Interesting. You did read the first post in this thread where it says:

How do you ride in The GS Giant?
You register for the BMW MOA Rally
You click the "I want to ride in the GS Giant" button as you register
If you've already registered and didn't see the button, send me a PM or email with your contact info
You get a scorebook a week ahead of the event
You download adventuresome routes to ride on the way to the rally
You meet up and camp on July 14 in CA, ID, or NV, or July 15 in WA
You ride to Salem, OR and meet up with everyone
You ride the Adventure Track and the rally

Well, nearly 200 other riders were able to sign up, ride, and have a great time. About 50 people joined the GS Giants club. There were thousands of posts, page views, photos and videos here, at the MOA forum, Facebook, Youtube and Twitter. The Rally program listed all the events, times and locations. At the rally there were about 100 signs pointing people toward the event, each with a full schedule of events. We put out 2,500 brochures inviting folks to join in, again with a full schedule of events. We had a crowd of nearly 1,000 people watching the Adventure Track competition.

Perhaps you might have asked a question...

Looks like the Giants had a great time in Oregon. I wish I could have made it.

See you in St. Paul next year.

Sorry for this taking so long, got home from OR late last week and have been working on the print article covering the event.

    Here's what happened.

Giants from all points rode across the great Pacific Northwest, starting their GS Gypsy Tours from point in California, Idaho, Nevada and Washington, all with a common destination: Salem, Oregon.

Along the way, riders camped (or hoteled it?) together and had a great time making new friends

There were prizes to be won, earned through points for stopping at various GSBS Locations, shooting pictures and sharing them with friends. The scorebook contained routes, destinations and riding advice for riders of all skill levels.

The rides were designed for larger enduros carrying camping gear, but every now and then a little extra adventure might get thrown in.

As the four rides converged, the rider-friendly Korner Post in Detroit Lake, OR was a spot to stop for lunch, and to prepare for the last Adventure Detour through the Opal Creek Scenic Recreation Area.

The swimming holes in Opal Creek were very cool

A GPS was a handy thing to have, but it wasn't a requirement.

When the four rides met up at the BMW MOA rally, it appeared a lot of GS Giants had been out stomping around.

The BMW MOA made a pretty nice budget available for building a track to ride during the event. And the track was indoors, and lighted.

Riders took to the track for practice, training, and of course, to figure out just what lines to take during the competition.

Tad Haas and Gaila Gutierrez gave a great seminar about their yearlong roundabout.

And Dan Townsley (DRTBYK) gave two unbelievably well-attended GPS seminars.

Coach Ramey Stroud gave demonstrations of adventure sidecars

Of course, GS Giants were out in force...

The women-only ride was led by three great women riders: (l-r) Colleen Sepulveda, Nicole Beachboard and Linnea Alvord.

Thanks Ian. Sorry I missed it touring can get expensive. I got next year all planned out. I hope the GS Giants can bring it. Still up for a GS Giants/Adventure Summits Grand Champion?
