Hey Fred, may want to "chop" the center stand and add some material while you have the welder. Unless you're into carrying wood around....:huh
I used a jack handle I had lying around. The od was perfect for the center stands id.
Carrying wood around? My R90/6 loves doing that

I was in the plans of doing something like this (in a twin shock version) to my 'pile of parts that could have been a second R90/6'- but then I found a G/S to buy, and that has closed the page on the R90GS idea (for now...)

So ... initially ... I went with option #1. I was going to drill out the bushing on the shock and then see if I could put in the bushing that was part of the original shock on the RT. But ... I noticed something ... at first ... when I hit it with a hammer (please just accept this, as hitting things with a hammer is just something I do) ... the bushing started to 'come out' ... So ... I got a tube with the correct diameter ... sprayed it with WD40 ... and then removed the bushing ...

And out of pure luck ... Once I removed all the bushings ... the two bushings, from the old shock and the new shock ... had THE SAME EXTERIOR DIAMETER! Apparently I did something real good to deserve this ... but I haven't a clue what it was. Either way ... Coated them with WD40, and put the bushings from the original BMW shock into the Race Tech shock ... and then grind them down a bit (the Racetech mount is about 15mm wide, and the BMW is about 20mm wide) ... and then put them on!

Now ... we're going to get into some welding. I've got to lengthen the centerstand, and make some pegs.
As a side note, I also put a post-81 oil pan on Greta ... now she has about 250mL more oil ... Sweet ...
lol hammer, its just something I do.. Seriously as they say, if you cant fix it with a hammer, then you have an electrical problem.

I hope your DRZ front brakes are up to the job of stopping that beast. I was out on mine last Sunday, after about 5 hard stops there was steam coming for the caliper!!! Surprised me as I thought there was newish brake fluid in there. Flushed the system, but haven't tried it yet. Probably won't until the front SS brake line comes in. Got a good price on a custom one out of Canada, something like $38 shipped. You might want to look into that. Here's the linky
Sure beats paying 70 or 80 for the things. Custom ends and length. Ebay listing under BMW, but that doesn't really matter.
OK ... rode it around the block a few times ... hit some large curbs ... This thing is going to be stupid fun. I can't wait. Here are some better pictures.
It's leaking oil like a sieve. I think that all I really need to do is replace the oil pan seal and the oil filter seal ... and we'll be in business. I'll order the rubber one and be done with it.
Now I really need to fashion the front panel. I'm also thinking about putting the 7" BMW headlight on it ... I just like that huge headlight.

365 pounds wet? Really? I'd like to know how he does that.
Losing the starter and large battery would get you well on the way. Those forks and front wheel would be lighter than stock pieces, too.
There's not much on that bike that doesn't absolutely have to be there, by the looks of things.
