After some tough tests so finally!

    With a few updates:

New springs springs to fork Öhlins BMW F 800 GS 12:55 NM
Thicker fork oil 0:05 to 0:15
    new Gel battery

Drove about 250 km gravel yesterday .... amazing 370 km in total and she works superbly on any surface: gravel trails, tractor and timber roads, trails and easy enduro (wet grass was a bit so-so but it went oxså :)

We were a Honda XR 650, a KTM 690 R Super Enduro and what shall I say more than that we are so clearly different .... we run and just because someone has a nice bike that does not mean that they can vrkan or want to run fast ... Of course.

But no one yesterday had so much as a chance to hang on ...... The Honda was clearly the fastest after XLR 1000 Super Offroad.
Filmed a little but it is so very "shaky" not good.

Lets just say .... Yess what a fantastic bike, incredibly stable, fast, and does a great security for each difficulty.

Whaaooo .... I've been very lucky with all the parts and with the construction of course, do not think otherwise ......
But now it is a wonderful bike that will make life difficult for many who run the established bike brands :) Really tough.

Congrats with the bike... But what brought you back on a Carbudero? After having owned 2 Carbudero's and 2 fuel injected ones, there is no hair on my head thinking of going back to an carburettor fuelled version... ;)

I found an 08 Varadero with 19000 kms on it and he is asking $9500.00 Cdn. This is what is on the bike. I have heard mixed reviews about the Varadero so thought I would ask for some opinions. I have read quite a few of the posts here but there are alot and I can't read them all. Good deal or no?

I am selling a Dual sport Honda Varadero 2008 Black and silver, very rare , he has only 19 200km on it, very good condition, condition show room, full Transferable warranty until 2016 and road assistance by Honda too.

2 aluminium box from the Hepco Beker.
2 brand new tires 50/50 Mitas EO7 Dakar,

Its not a bad deal, it is kitted out similar to mine, and I probably have 10k invested. Put about 80,000 kilometers on mine over a 3 year period and never had so much as a hiccup, most reliable and durable bike I have ever had.

+1. I've got an 09 model. 56kkm. Having run with other DP bikes, I believe its better than a DL or sorts, but not as good (off-road) as KTM/Africa Twin.

But it's reliable, comfortable, smooooooth and fuel-efficient.

I have a couple of quick tire questions. I am about to buy tires for my Varadero and have narrowed my choice down to Avon Distanzia or Metzler Tourance. My first question is can someone who has run both these tires make a recommendation one way or the other. I am primarily concerned with durability (wear) but with wet pavement, gravel road and cold pavement traction as secondary considerations.
My second question is that there are apparently three different tourances available for the Varadero the original Tourance, the Tourance EXP made specifically for the Varadero and the new Tourance next. Can anyone advise which of these works best with regard to the criteria above.

    Hi @AfricaTwin

Have you considered the Conti Trail Attack II? They are brilliant for the conditions you have mentioned. Got 10.000 km down on my set now, and for what I can judge, they are at least good for 5.000 km more, so up- and down to the 16th Varadero International Meeting in Norway next year won't be a problem...'

They S* in mud, but on gravel, wet/cold paved roads they stick to the road as glue. Dureability is good as well.

I would suggest the new Michelin Anakee III in your choice too. There are some interesting 'Varadero vv Tires' topics at www.vci-forum.com.

    Agree with Two Plugs: Michelin.

Don't have experience with Avon, but Anakee II's have better tracting (in all conditions) and better life than Metz. Assuming the III's would be better.

I bought my '08 Vara in British Columbia for $5500 with Leo Vince exhaust and only 9500 kms. Put 8000 troublefree kms on it last summer. No bags though. FYI to get an idea of what they're actually selling for.

    Hi

I'm returning to riding after a long absence :clap.

I've been lurking around here for a bit but only registered a few days ago.

I just bought a 2008 dero with pretty much all of the farkling (sp?) done. But since I'm new to the bike and been out of the game for a long time I anticipate having lots of questions.

Like: what is the purpose of that little light bulb in the headlights?
