Just curious, anyone using OsmAnd maps on android? I had motionx on my old iphone and it shows the hard sections in a different color but osmand does not seem to have this feature?

Some apps convert the tracks to one color, I've never used OsmAnd but it may allow you to manually change them back.

Both of us will be on XR400's. Would be nice to stay on as much dirt/gravel as possible, some single track would be nice but not necessary.

After some reading it looks like OsmAnd treats one gpx file as one track.. It basically ignores the <trk> tags in the file.

Looks like one work around is to create a new gpx file for each track. Ill give it a go tomorrow and see.

I'd drive down to Slade and stay at the Little Abner Motel, they will let you leave your truck there for the rest of your ride. From there go counterclockwise till you run out of time.

My group of 5 will be starting in Campton Saturday morning and riding ccw, hitting as much hard stuff as we can. Returning Monday afternoon/evening. LC4 400, LC4 640, 520 EXC, 250 XCF-W, TR650. If we cross paths, say hey!

    Jeff,

A couple buddies and I did a good portion of the KAT a couple years ago. I've been riding for 22 years, including road racing, hare scrambles, supermoto and touring. That said, the KAT was easily one of the best things I've ever done on a bike. It was an awesome experience, in the true sense of the word. Thank you for putting it together.

I'm trying to plan out another trip this year. I'll be on an 1190 Adventure this year, though I'd guess my friends will be on dirtbikes again. Our plan will be to stick to the main loop exclusively (last time we tried many hero sections.) Looking at the gpx tracks, I see a couple spots that have changed:

    1) Black Mountain
    2) Area south of Kentucky Ridge State Forest

What's the reason for bypassing these areas? Honestly, I'm just curious, but i know they'll affect the amount of time it would take us to go through there.

Just rode the MABDR south from Romney W.V. to Damascus Va. Followed some tracks from there to Appalacia, thanks @B-Mac those were great. Now we're on the KAT heading to Slade. My riding buddy almost ran over a bear on the Little Shepard Trail this evening and I saw another down the mountain right after.

    Once again, thanks Jeff.

I'll keep an eye out for some orange bikes. I hope to see you, if not have fun.
