    I agree there are several inconsistencies. But overall, it is a valuable resource and our wit allows us to (hopefully) pass over the mistakes or translation errors.

    The clutch plates may be just to give people direction to follow. "Aaah which way do these go?!"

    Some items I feel are missing in the 690 book:
    -No spec on the bore ovality on bore
    -No spec for wear for wrist pin / wrist pin hole dia? "Check parts for excessive wear" is weak.
    -No spec on crank runout
    -No piston ring orientation requirements
    -No ring gap for each ring
    -Timing chain inspection is..?
    -990 manual has oil pump axial clearance but not 690 manual
