Ah! Thanks for pointing it out to me.. Appreciate it!! Now downloading TCAT v1.2
That is great work you're doing!!!! I often read your RR and wondered if I could take my BMW R80 on your routes! Thanks for helping out.!
Merry Christmas everyone!!!
Ted.....is it june yet?
Thanks for all your work in adding to the GPS files. Much appreciated. I'm sure it will help in planning.
I'll be contacting you regarding the GPS files if they are not already posted on Graveltravel.ca . I am hoping to continue a trip from where Dave and I left off near Ottawa and continuing on to St John's NL ths comming summer.
P.S. Might have to stop a Ted's place for a refreshment.
Congrats on the accomplishment Ted. When you told me you were tackling this project I thought you were crazy, but you made it happen.
If anyone is riding the route past Wawa give me a heads up.

Yes. Still working on securing two service and tire change locations along the route. One at about 5000kms and the second at about 10,000 kms. We are going to take an entire day to service all six bikes at once at both locations. Other than that, we are ready to go!
I have a few suggestions if ya wanna email me
Just log in and email gets sent to you with download link
Lucky you. Taking the 800xc?

No, it is an ok little bike, but the wrong one for this trip and this group of riders. All of us are on 990 KTMs.
Happy New Year, folks!
A preliminary draft overview of the route (lines only so far, no waypoints) is up and located here.
Note* This links you to an interactive ArcGIS Explorer online mapping application, which requires Silverlight to run. Feel free to play around with the toolbar at the top which will allow you to zoom in or out, pan around, or even change out different basemap layers, ie topographic maps, street maps, aerial photos and satellite imagery, etc. Also, if you click on any section of the route, a popup will show the information linking back to the specific GPX file info of that particular segment.
If you're more comfortable with Google Earth, I've also saved a KMZ file of the route and placed that in my dropbox account. You can find that file here.
Just to clarify... these are 'draft' efforts for the moment, so any and all feedback is welcome. If you have specific requests as to what you would like to see on the maps, please PM me and I'll do what I can to make the printable version of these maps as versatile and useful as possible.
Nice! Looks and works great!
I'm still plugging away at reworking some of the track and adding waypoints for fuel, hospitals, camping/lodging, and other POIs. Should have a product shortly for Ted. Maybe it is something you could use for this once we get things fleshed out a bit more?
How are you getting the bikes out to the start of the route ?
I'll also be riding a 990, solo at present.
Any new points or edited tracks (with respect to actual physical location, not attributes) would be good to add when you're finished with them. If its just descriptions and attributes you're tweaking, those won't really be necessary as I'm generalizing the attributes in the files strictly for hardcopy/display purposes.
In any case, adding removing or editing data as it becomes available isn't a difficult task on this end, so whenever you have something you feel would be of use just let me know!
Once Cannonshot is done and its been confirmed it will become R1.3 on the site.
Thanks Kelly and Cannonshot
Each of us are looking after shipping their own bikes to the starting point. Because time is tight for me and the KTM I want to take on this ride is in Utah, I will fly it in.
The only thing I'm doing for the whole group is looking after getting the servicing and tire changing locations arranged.
I'm searching/posting dealerships "proximate" to the route by brand as waypoints like I did for the Great Divide Ride.
That's a nice touch! On a ride that could likely require servicing, knowing where you might want to schedule a visit is a Good Thing.
Rick West, I look forward to your riding report of doing a full TCAT as I am planning to take this trail sometime in 2015.
I'd like to carry a set of paper maps as a back up to the GPS data.
Can anyone suggest a set of maps for Canada that are detailed enough
to show the roads this route takes ?
I'm about 5000 km into the route. Garage and place to setup tents...would be happy to host ya for a rest/maintenance day
Once gps files are finalized, hoping to have tiled, detailed maps you can print out
Just absolutely amazing.
It's gentlemen like you and the riders who have worked to establish
this route that make the ADVRider community such a unique, positive
