Awesome, simply awesome work on the gps file :freaky

Re fuel....a couple of those sections....not one building or any signs of civilization...

Best to ensure you have plenty of fuel not only to get to the next fuel stop but also to get back if the trail is blocked, washed out, etc. When you do get to the "gas station" there may not be anyone there. Be prepared to wait, things run a bit differently out in the boonies. Folks are way more relaxed and many don't run their lives based on a clock. Worth noting as well that cash is the only form of payment accepted in several spots long the route.

You'll be in some of the most remote locations in North America accessible by road, plan accordingly :thumb

Again a huge thanks to all who made this possible, the weeks riding, gas, time, beer etc...and now posting for free.
This is an epic trail put together and I plan on doing some of it this summer.
    THANKS

Again, thanks for all of this.
    I'll be on my KTM 990 A.
Fitted with the Safari tanks, which are good for 400 miles.
After some good advise from Cannonshot and others on the GPS forum,
I'll be using a Montana 600 with Canada topo loaded, running the tracks
and my nuvi 550 with North America NT and the overlay for backup.

Has anyone ridden the whole route in one go yet ?

    Twist it, Max

Nope, it has yet to be run in its entirety.

I've ridden approximately half of it. Between the collective of folks who created the route, every inch of it has been ridden.

Wish i could be the first, i have plans on riding the half i haven't ridden but it's not in the cards for this year. 2014 :nod

Sounds like a few different groups are intending to ride from start to finish this year :pynd

I've been fortunate to have been following this from day one,and this is certainly a "labor of love". Hat's off to all you guys who've worked so hard to make this vision into a reality. I think it will be a few years before I can start to ride this, but your work has now made it possible. THANK YOU from the lower 48:thumb

There are a couple of places to grab gas in that route above. Trout Lake has a gas station (with the funk old gravity-feed pumps) as does Edgewood (short detour just south of Edgewood).

I originally included the WPs for gas and camping when I submitted my GPS files but it was decided to take them out to avoid clutter and just to note these spots in the writeup like you have done...

It is nice to have an overlay file of Waypoints along the route as long as the information is correct... I have noticed, for the Island area anyways, that on some of the gps software out there {Garmin Mapsource for one} that their WPs for campgrounds and such are just plain wrong...

    Thank you. Fixed that.

Hope I got the placement in Edgewood right. Found a picture of the general store and then found the location in aerial imagery.

Thanks! Sorry I didn't catch that the first time. That write-up is fantastic!

I agree that much of the camping information in the background maps is pretty unreliable, not just in your area, but across the product. I think I mentioned in an earlier post that I was able to verify many of the spots but with the 95% complete product (for now) left some spots as unverified but marked with a question mark. Hopefully we'll be able to verify a few more but frankly some specific information is difficult to find for some locations. As more people ride this we should benefit from more verified waypoints as well. Sent you a PM looking for additional information for the file.

Spent the afternoon working through the VI narrative to make sure I got all the POIs from the narrative into the master GPX. Great narrative by the way - very informative.

I think I got all but two or three that I just couldn't nail down. I'll try to work those with the author of that section so we get everything included in the GPX. Picked up a few extras as well.

All this will come out (along with some other stuff) with a future revision of the master file on the TCAT site.

    Quick overview on these maps.

Several across that lake in fact... One at Galena Bay, one at Arrows and one at Farquier (Needles).

The road from Edgewood south to Grand Forks is decent, although rough and rocky. Not forgiving in many places if you blow a corner... That area is pretty much my backyard, so if you are up here riding, drop me a PM! I'm always looking for riding partners. Lot's of great roads and trails to ride around these parts!
