    G/day

I have just ridden up the Molesworth from Hanmer Spings, generally in very good condition, but dusty. The grader is working about 20k's north of Hanmer, and it is very dusty with plenty of loose gravel, if it rains it will turn to snot. Not a lot of traffic, maybe a dozen vehicles including 2 DOC"s and a bloody motorhome!

Staying in Blenheim, and hope to do a return trip tomorrow, so long as it dosent rain.

PS a big plug for the Bella Vista motel owners, John is a long time motorcyclist, arrive covered in dust, he says been on the Molesworth? yes, check in and have a shower, a knock on the door and there is John with 2 icy cold beers, he says that I might need them to wash down the dust!!
    Now that is service:clap

Another worthwhile (and sweet) bypass to stay off the main roads is the Redwood Pass

Wishing you blue skies and a full tank

PS John was telling me he knew Burt Munroe, and helped work /advise Burt on his Velocette back in the early 70's. A good man, and happy to promote his business.

Nice! Good to see the Beemer back on the road.

You'd be a bit gutted about missing out on all the nice warm weather back home at the moment though wouldn't ya? :lol3

Nope, happy to be here even if it is cold and windy, I can always turn up the heat on my heated clothing, bit hard to carry A/C on a bike:rofl

Update, Ian and I are at the BMW rally in Nelson, and have had a hoot. We came down the Molesworth yesterday and at one stage thought we were going to get rained on, but only got some very light showers. This morning was sunny but bloody windy and cold as we came up the Rainbow, then some more gravel back roads as we headed to Nelson.

If it's the same one I'm thinking of...

Have a google and you will find it on the DOC site and also the NZ4WD Association site ;)
Peter is good at linking CMS review submission reminders and the like to the 4WD site too, which are always worth your input.

It was pretty crappy through the Rainbow yesterday. I actually thought I was going to get blown off the bike at one point :huh at least it wasn't dusty
The fire and cup of tea with the fishermen from W.A. at Sedgmere hut was most welcome :D

Nice one. The coastal cafe at Kekerengu is worth a stop for some (good) food and coffee on your way down to Kaikoura.
