The route goes from the west coast to central PA.

It is targeted at Adventure / Dual Sport bikes with optional sections that are harder.
It is on the scale of the Trans America Trail. Ride at your own risk.

This portion of the route goes from Eureka MT to Sheridan WY.

The section to the west of here is - The Northern Route - West End - http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1032698

The section to the east of here is - The Northern Route - Plains - http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1043304

As far as I know all roads are legal Public roads - Forest Service, county, state, etc. Off pavement as much as possible.

Note - the tracks are raw tracks containing LOTS of track points.
You may well have to filter these tracks down for some units. <hr style="color:#575757; background-color:#575757" size="1">

I see it all and the shots looks good. The tracks look confusing unless there is a main color to follow and the others are side tracks. Is the main look sucky or just that there is so much to see and ride? This looks like something I would really like to ride. Love it up there.

Almost all of your questions are answered in the document file.

The main route is intended to generally be big bike friendly.
The alternates are generally more challenging sections for smaller bikes.
Nothing is extreme, but may be quite rocky or sandy or steep.

There are so many routes posted because there is so much good stuff to ride, and to offer the option of doing a loop.

The first alternate - NR41 - NR44 - along with a portion of the main route - parts of NR05 and NR06, would make a nice 3 day loop.

    The second alternative - NR51 - NR56 - along with a portion of the main route - NR06 - NR09 - would make a nice 8-9 day loop.

Hope this helps clarify the purpose of the route.

Also, look in West Coast for the western end of this route.

Shortly I'll be posting the next section eastward - Plains - either in the Rockies section or Midwest section.

This is to be followed by Midwest, and East Coast sections.

This is intended to be a coast to coast ride on the scale of the Trans America Trail, but with options along the way. All in GPS / GPX format with waypoints for gas / food / lodging / camping.

You have been very busy doing this route. A lot of work. I like the way you color coded the routes.

I updated the doc file today.

Added an alternate timetable for faster riders - more miles per day in general.

Less miles on last day, but that's probably good so you can take time to smell the roses on the way over the mountains.

The Big Horns are the highest mountains on the entire trip, you're up around 10k for a long ways.

Just wanted to give a shout out to Scott (Northern Traveler).

I"ve ridden with him a bit----and want to let it be known if you didn't already know---that Scott lays out routes that are as good or better than anything you'll find out there.

He does it for free---and goes completely over the top with much valuable information about the routes he has laid out.

You will be delighted to ride anything he posts.

I can't remember if it was Dr. Rock, Francine, Me or Dingweeds---but when we rode with him we named him "Connector"----as he's always connecting routes. And always talking about it.

He's not Northern Traveler to us-------------he the famous "Connector".

Thanks Scott !!! Stop by the house anytime again while out connecting------------if you can catch me at home.:D:D:D:D

+1. Yeah, I rode with Scott when doing some revisions to the TetS loop down around GA a couple years back and he does a great job and really knows his way around maps and laying out routes that work for everyone!

The "Connector" is a good name for him. :D

Thanks guys, sure appreciate the kind words.

Dan knows, but Mark doesn't, I'm working on extending another of my routes.

I'm going to extend my 'Southern Route' to the east coast, got it all mapped and start riding probably Monday.

There's this stuff west of Little Rock that has been looking really interesting... and I already have a western end to it - the existing 'Southern Route', and I already have an eastern end to it - the 'TET-S' out to Savannah, so what the heck.

Too cold and too much snow up here in northern Michigan to go riding here right now....

Plan on doing some final slight revisions of 'Northern Route - Midwest' on the way home before I release it. Should be out by May 1st. Carries this route eastward to eastern Ohio, the the eastern end release carries it to central PA where it ties into TPAT and TET.

And actually some of what is in THIS release I was riding with Mark, DingWeeds and Doc Rock on. Good stuff! Good times!

    Scott,

    Thank you V-e-r-y much!

Last summer, on my way to BC, I picked my way across Montana trying to stay on as much gravel as possible. I'm going back that direction again this spring.

After looking at your route through Wyoming, Montana & Idaho it's interesting how this years & last years routes, are similar to what you show. With yours, It's making connecting the dots a little easier.

I mapped & rode the TSDAT, an E/W route across SD. I know how much work that was, so kudos to what you've done:clap

I enjoyed reading the descriptions included with each section. I noticed you said there wasn't gas in Ponca, NE. There is....I've stopped there several times going to or from Bob's Bar in Martinsburg, NE. A local favorite RTE destination! Hamburgers the size of a dinner plate & an order of fries that 4 people can't complete! :D

BigDog....I keep running into you :eek1 Must be a Dog thing............:rofl

Yeah, I stopped and had lunch in Bob's Bar while scouting.

Not much there - as far as the town goes - but that bar definately has character!!

I thought I saw gas in Ponca, but didn't have it in my notes and CN doesn't show it.

I do the best I can, but miss things sometimes!
