My ride buddies and I typically meet up from all over the West at various race events at least once a year. Laguna Seca at Monterey for the World GP, or Miller Motorsports in Utah for the World Superbike. This year a few of us decided on a week long trip instead. The trip shouldnt take anywhere near an entire week, but that will be dependent on alcohol consumption in the evenings and what time we drag our asses up to ride. Chad, Bert and Tim, sorry you couldnt make this one, probably for the best as I am quite sure Tim will get us pulled in every county we cross into, as he wheelies past the local L.E. Since I will be on the slower bike this time, I prefer not to be used as bait. The trip will take us through McCall and Lolo pass in Idaho, to Missoula, and Glacier Natl park. Yellowstone, Jackson, Stanley, and back to Boise in search of the best twisties. We have a general route in mind, but that is subject to change at any given moment. We decided early on to camp most of the way, with ocassional motel stays, Jackson for sure. I mean, we cant very well go through there without hitting the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar. The culprits, in what is sure to be criminal activity (speeding anyway) are as follows; DONOVAN- He no longer rides this Triumph and instead will be on his Kawasaki ZX-14. BUt I couldnt resist posting this old picture from a previous road trip in Northern Ca. KEVIN- Will be on his Yamaha R-1, and already has concerns about tickets as he mentioned to me on the phone last night. Kevin will into Boise today from Aspen. He loaded his bike into his truck and will truck it to Boise. we will unload it tonight and tomorrow morning kickstands up no later than 0800. DAVE- (me)- I will be riding my KTM 990 Adventure. The decision to ride the KTM over my Aprilia Mille was tough one, but in the interest of comfort, and hopefully not quite as much hooliganism (defined- wheelies, knee to the pavement, and a very good chance of tickets and a possible ride to a county jail) I opted on the KTM, plus I can carry way more, and while not quite as agressive in the twisties, still damn fun! This is the Aprilia that lost out on this ride, a Colin Edwards race replica. so sad, but again in the interest of not going to jail somewhere........... Along the ride other friends will join in for small portions of twisties for the day and I will introduce them that day in this ride report. I will also likely include emberassing pictures from previous rides....you know who Im talking about dont you STEVEN. Oh, and Steven....please try to not crash a bike this time. So, stay tuned, this thread will be picture heavy, and if I can figure it out I will embed video from my gopro too.
