What's not to love? 900 hp trucks jumping, sliding and banging around an off road track. :thumb Watch the series at your leisure on Vimeo. :deal

I was there for a number of the SCORE series at Riverside Raceway.

I love it but it begs to ask the question..............

If today's trucks have such the technological advances that they have, then why are they running on tracks that look like paved highways compared to that track?

Maybe today's track designers need to be kidnapped and locked up in a room and forced to view that video for about 72 hours straight so they get the message...............

Remember the Mickey Thompson stadium series? I wonder why nobody took that over?

I spent several years as part of the Ford Rough Riders team that did the Mickey Thompson Stadium series. I haven't followed the recent short course stuff, but I have a large number of friends that are heavy involved. Basically I burned out with the Mickey Thompson stuff and have no desire to work that hard and get to see so little racing Hahahahaha.

I'm fairly sure that the Pro-Lite class is basically the same cars as the old stadium cars. The big Class 8 trucks and now Trophy Trucks are waaay too big for stadium races. SCORE did include a stadium race ("Terrible's Cup" in Las Vegas) as part of the series, but it was a joke, thank God it went away.

Mickey Thompson was the man who started SCORE and the man who made the Riverside and stadium races happen. There isn't anyone out there that could come close to filling Mickey's shoes. Rumor has it that Robby Gordon is trying get a stadium series going again. To make it happen you need to get in with the Supercross and Monster truck promoters so when the stadium is set up with dirt you follow in behind them.

I race in both the Mickey T Stadium and Riverside races in the Karman Gorilla. Does anyone remember that car?
Riverside was the best short track race, and hell was usually raised overnight at the raceway. Ah the Memories.....

I went to the Riverside races every year once I got my drivers license :clap. I lived 20 minutes from the track and would ride my enduro bike out, then just cruise around and watch from any spot I could find in a fence. Once I was walking on the infield side of the esses and saw a poor guy trying to pull the motor out of his 5/1600 car by himself. His crew never showed up. I set my helmet and backpack down, layed down in the dirt and helped him finish the job. I miss Riverside raceway,(but not Riverside).

I agree that the new tracks are boring, just dirty NASCAR. The new Robby Gordon SST stadium series is a step in the right direction but the tracks need to be rougher.
