Nice, that's classic. I was just commenting on the generator's orange frame.
I have that same generator.. . orange frame.. electric start never works
After Rob's e-start issues I opted for a a manual-only start. I'm not cooridnated enough push the start button and pull at the same time.
generators (lawn mowers, snow blowers, etc) should have a kick start!
I looked at this 99 250 exc.clean and felt like great compression. Found few things that scared me.sprocket had silicone on snap ring. Motor made bang noises you could feel.forks leaking. Any thoughts of what bang clunk noise could be.bogged some too.
some bang noises are just that, fuel going bang! was it on idle and corresponded to engine firing or was it just random "bag of rocks" noise?
Forks are easy
Silicone is easy lazy mans safety wire, they do it on all Penguin Race school bikes, easier than drilling bolts
\The 99 forks were some of the best front suspenders ever on those bikes. Look behind the sprocket to be sure there isn't silicone there masking a leak. I had a 2000 (same gearbox) check to see that the countershaft bearing is solid. Mine wore out, after many miles of use, and you could move it with your finger about 1/16-1/8 inch and the trans was very noisy when that happened.
The bang sounded random every few seconds at idle.I asked the guy to pull the silicone.I though maybe was to hide a weld.
Forks are not inverted.I was wondering what year they changed.
Guy or guy he bought bike lied told that previous owner was afraid of bike and didn't ride much.it was obviously raced.
99 is the last year before the USD forks. Early in the 2000's some guys were putting the conventionals on their bikes because they were better.
Anyone going to patchaug Sunday? I wonder if snow is gone there.going to be lots of water and fun if it is.
I was thinkin the same thing. I figure it'll clear down there before our local trails do. Unfortunately we're probably a week early. Heck I'm game for a road ride at this point.
I want to ride! if anyone going, post up details when and I will try to be there
I am going to ride the BMW somewhere on Sat.. I could swing by Pachaug and look at the trails.. give an update on how the snow looks.
I can't wait to get out! If the stuff I ordered comes today I'm thinking about a trip down. There's still 6"+ up here and lots of ice under it from sleds and hikers. I love snow ( I plow ) but I have had enough! I want dirt!
I never bothered studding my tires either and at this point I'm not going to, so I really hope the snow is gone in southern CT.
There will still be a layer of frost in the ground for a while after the snow goes. That makes for the worst possible conditions.
What did ya order? My bike sits in the basement ready to go w/ new tires, srpockets, wheel bearings, like it has been for almost 8 months!
Trails down ON the shoreline are doable but are going to be sloppy wet with some patches. I don't know about 10 miles inland and North!
I'd like to go with you, but good ol' Renazco still has my seat - two weeks and counting. I'm sure it will be worth the wait, but these nice days are few-and-far-between lately. Enjoy the ride.
That kinda stuff...tires, sprockets, chain, oil, filters, BRP chain glide, ultra HD tubes, air filter, smith v 2, etc... I got most of it already, just waiting on the 49 tooth rear sprocket. I've got a 13/46 now, but want the 14 back up front and 49 rear will be almost the same as the 13/46 which I really like on the 610

I'm sure that was an isolated incident. No chance it could happen again this weekend.
