    Hamilton, Kimi, Alonso.
I suspect the Wiiliams to get mugged before turn 1

    Fascinating qualifying!

I'm amazed at how much difference a 1 degree drop in track temperature made. It basically bumped Button out of Q3. Gosh, these cars are sensitive! (Full credit to Steve Matchett for explaining what was happening. Button didn't know, he was bewildered.)

Hamilton's fuel fiasco is remarkable. He was half a second faster than second place. I wonder how much of that was due to his lower fuel weight? A terrible error in judgment by the McLaren team. For such a well-run operation, they seem to be their own worst enemies (pit stops killed them in Bah-rain.)

Alonso being 3rd fastest and Vettel not even registering a time in Q3 is also a huge change. Horses for courses, or a trend? Based on the season so far, the former?

A Williams on the pole? Fantastic! Regardless of the reason, what a boost for a proud team that has endured terrible times since losing BMW. Wow!

And Lotus continues to nip at the leaders. 4 and 5 (now 3 and 4), solid and a true indicator of the car. Plus, Grosjean continues to impress. Poor old Kubica, what he might have done with this car.

I believe they said every Barcelona winner has come from pole. Man, how great would a Williams victory be?

    I'm loving this unpredictable season.

ps As if to celebrate Chelsea's sponsorship deal with Sauber, following the F1 race, in the United States Speed will show Chelsea's final match, against Blackburn Rovers.

We'll see if Hamilton's new ZEN calmness will prevail and have climb from the back without taking out himself, or anyone else.

    Go KIMI!!!

It's as if McLaren is one of the trucks in Wages of Fear, Hamilton is the unstable nitroglycerine in the back... and they keep driving over bumps just to see what will happen. :lol3

Man, every race brings another McLaren screw up :eek1...I can't see that small amount of fuel gaining him a half second, but damn. It's in the rules, but the rules don't require him to start from the back...makes me wonder why such a harsh ruling was taken.

He's got to be one angry man right now....

EDIT: So Hamilton qualifies first and starts 24th. Narain does not qualify at all but starts 23rd. Interesting qualification system there Bernie...:rofl

This is interesting. Per the BBC, the reason the rule is the way it now is... is because of Hamilton.

"The rules on fuel were changed by F1's governing body, the FIA, after a similar problem with Hamilton's car at the 2010 Canadian Grand Prix ."

    Because of McLaren surely?

I don't like Hamilton much but I don't think that he has any control over how much fuel the team had put in his car.

Gary Anderson's analysis on that page is relevant.

McLaren's reasoning that their margin of superiority in Q3 is so great that the short fuel doesn't matter is lame. A rule requiring sufficient fuel to make it back to the pits with enough to take a sample is reasonable. They violated a clearly defined rule and deserve a penalty.

But back of the grid seems onerous. I would think 10th (as if they just parked in Q3) would be appropriate. I wonder if the stewards are deliberately making an example of them because they first attempted to say that the reason the car stopped was because of a non-fuel-related breakdown, essentially trying to hide their mis-fueling mistake.

Wait a minute... Are you seriously suggesting that Lewis and McLaren would ever lie to the stewards?!? Why, that's just unimaginable!! :rofl:rofl:rofl (And dumb, too!)

Results like this one almost have me interested in F1 again.

Didn't think Williams had it in them anymore. Nice to be proven wrong.

Kimi's press conference was a classic. Latinos going on and on in spanish about their races and whatnot. Kimi said "happy mothersday to my mum and other mums as well. That's it, thanks.":rofl:rofl
