    Ibra is crazy, but brilliant.

Hart could be the first acceptable keeper I have seen play for england. :lol3
If a keeper has to do great saves, the team in front of him is usually at fault. It looks worrying that the Ukraine was able to shoot on goal so often.

We first have to break down the greek wall, then Germany will be well prepared for England.

    A rhetorical question:

How the heck is Greece in a stage with Germany, Spain, Italy, Portugal, England, France and the Czech Republic? :scratch

Russia sure screwed up BUT I guess that's why they play them and I shouldn't be surprised that there's an upstart in the knockout round.

You just lost the last remaining shred of credibility you had left.

My work here is done. :lol3

Count about '94 onwards. I am not that old yet.

Well, halftime Czech-Portugal, still 0-0. CRonaldo's move at the end of the half was pretty neat.

Honestly, I am surprised the Portuguese can't close the deal.

Portugal moves on, and deservedly so. The Czechs did nothing for the game. Will we see more of this tomorrow?

Looking ahead, if Spain does away with the French, we get to see Spain - Portugal in a semi-final. That would be an absolute delicacy!

Hopefully Germany will get past Greece tomorrow. If they do then for
the first time in my life I will cheer for England. If Germany beat Greece and England somehow beat Italy then Germany will be in the final. The Germans have pretty much owned England in tournaments the last 40 plus years. Italy on the other hand has always been a torn in Germanys' side in tournaments. :1drink

Without Rosicky the pilsner boys lacked punch and overall Portugal were the better side, IMHO.

I'm conflicted over this Portugal team. From the preening self-regard of Ronaldo (a man who wears so much hair gel every time he heads the ball he should be penalized for assistance from an outside agent) to Meireles prison chic look (the only balding man to ever attempt to grow a Mohican) his neck tats and low rider shorts places him firmly in the drive by player category.

But they are starting to cohere as a team, even Nani seems to be accepting that their purpose is to get the ball to Ronaldo who can actually score (or failing that hit the posts). As it seems likely they'll face Spain - assuming no French shocker - I would say they have a chance given their thrashing of Spain in last years friendly. But Spain are a different team when it counts and they know how to deal with Ronaldo as they know him so well from La Liga.

Looking forward to today's game. I read that Germany want to meet Italy in the semi's (England are not seen as significant opponents). Greece might be the upset of the tournament

Now that will be interesting. Löw makes his first real change to the starting XI. Schürrle, Klose and Reus for Podolski, Gomez and Müller. I hope that works out well.

Name an english keeper who could be considered world class since 92.

Where do I slag another team off? Did england play nice or at least good?
I'd write the same about the German team, if they played like this.

+1 on hoping that it works. I am actually pleased to see Schuerrle for Poldi, but I am somewhat ambivalent on the other changes.

Though there would be tremendous satisfaction in beating England (especially after already having downed the Dutch), I would prefer to face Italy. As you have mentioned, we have never beaten the Italiens at the Euro or the World Cup - it is high time to end that streak!

I concentrate on the games I watched. I don't see any reason to not comment on them. I am happy to argue about the points I make. Until now I haven't seen any intelligent rebuke of what I wrote, just stupid banter.

Well, we put away Greece, but I am feeling strangely unsatisfied.....hmmm:huh.

I think I needed 8 in the net for us to feel full.

Two more great games over the weekend. I love the Euros!
