My friend has a 1996 RT with a taco'd front rim. He found a set of rims from a 2001 RT and he would like to know if they will work on his 1996. Thanks for any info........

I've got to take the bike in for its 6000 mile service before Im too overdue, and am planning to have them swap out the tires at the same time.

I've got it narrowed down to Michelin P3 or Metzler Z8's.

I'm more concerned with how a tire performs than mileage ( as I seem to get approx 6000 miles out of tires no matter what I put on ).

So what say you quasi - esteemed ADV RT riders. Have you used these and what did you think? Would you put them on again?

    Thanks

Bob.. I have about 5800 miles on my PR3's now, and they still have a lot of tread left. Front is showing a bit of scalloping at the hard/soft transition point, but not bad. Probably get about 8000 miles on these, and I do not ride particularly mild. They are also great rain tires, very sticky. There are no chicken strips.

I have a set of PR3s waiting next to the bike. Now I'm going to get a NoMar tire changer. :D

I rode that road from west to east. I was in "the zone" that day and there was very little traffic. My RT and I were as one and owned the road. I still look back on that as one of my best ever riding days.:clap

Yes 2001 rims will fit, as will any year 1100, not 1150.

    Known issues?

Can I still find an aftermarket extra tall windscreen?

What about lowering the foot pegs?

    (35" inseam)

    Thanks!

If you want to lower your footpegs you should look at the folks at Suburban Machinery. Nice people and good to do business with.

Yep. I found a used pair for the driver's pegs. 2 enthusiastic thumbs up.

Would love to find a used set for the passenger pegs now.

Yes, yes, I am not with the program - I know, I should be salivating, waiting for the WetHead RT to come on line. I should toss my RT into the nearest ditch.

    But: I like my bike!

So, I took my wife for the first longer ride on the RT since I sold my K12LT. The LT was undoubtedly the best bike ever made for pillion comfort. The RT is nowhere close.

However, as I am not in the position to tell my wife "just deal with it!" :evil, what are the pillion seat choices you guys used for an R1150RT?

The biggest problem is that she is sliding down/forward. I'd like to get a somewhat sculpted pillion seat that would be comfortable, while keeping her stuck, not sliding into me.

    Suggestions?

Mine came with a Corbin front seat and I found a Corbin backseat on CL. Bon Bon likes it and does say there is quite a difference. Positive difference.

    I like my '04 too!

My wife had the same problem with the stock seat. We have a Rick Mayer that she likes a lot.

I loved the PR2 but the 3 is even better especially in the wet - heaps more feel and confidence.:clap

What kind of mileage have you gotten out of your PR3's? I put a set on my RT 4500 mi. ago and, like you, really like the way it handles, just wondering if I'll get the same or better mileage as I got out of the Pirelli's that were on there before.

    Cheers
