    Please don't say that...

With the old battery on the charger, it turned over very well. With the new battery, it struggled past TDC and then just clicked. Voltage dropped to about 4.5 volts under load. Hoping it's a bad battery. It doesn't happen all the time, but it happens. Lucky me. :bluduh

Very cool, Marc. I like the "Samsonite" look of the side bags. :nod

Well, sometimes a magnet breaks off, sometimes it's just dust that collects. It acts like a dead battery...and sounds like a dead battery, and it seems to come and go. Beemerboneyard.com if you need one. 30minutes to replace...another 7 years or more of service.

Sorry you're having so much trouble. That's aggrevating for sure.

I may have gotten my hard start condition sorted. (Fingers crossed) It seems to be much better now since replacing the starter.

All I can figure is that the old starter was drawing enough current to keep the coil from creating sufficient spark, thus causing my weak spark/ no start issues. I'll know better after this weekend, I'm headed to Vermont for the BMWRA rally.:freaky

I'm about 90%+ sure that's EXACTLY what was going on.

I can happily report that my RT brought me both to and from the BMWRA rally in Pownal, VT this weekend. Just about 550 miles. Nice little shake down cruise without incident.:clap

RT's were the bike of choice. They were everywhere.

I just purchased a 2002 RT1150 with 43,000 miles on it. The bike is great. Did my usual shake down and change out things to make it mine. The one thing that is still bother me is the throttle pull. It is kind of stiff. I lubed the cable, lubed the throttle on the bar and removed the side panels and lubed at the throttle bodies. I assume there is a cable splitter somewhere under the tank? Single cable and grip, then splits to each cylinder. Maybe the splitter is dry? Anyone had similar issues?

Since magnetic is obviously out of the question, what is the best choice for a tank bag?

At the BMWRA rally last weekend, a vendor had a set of high output LED driving lights. Small in size but amazing amount of light output. I bit the bullet and ordered a set. Came in today and had to put them on. They look good IMHO, my only complaint is the POS posi-twist and posi-tap connectors supplied with the kit. It's getting dark, I'm going to go try them out. BRB.

*edit* I like 'em. :clap Lots of light, even with the potentiometer around 50% power.

Here's a pic for perspective. I'll take some better photos tomorrow when the light's better.

I put on another brake light, too. The stock incandescent seemed rather weak to me. Sorry about the crappy cell phone pic.

My used 04 came with an expandable BMW tank bag made specifically for this model. God knows what it cost, but it's a nice tank bag and fits perfectly.

TwistedThrottle.com has tank bags that have an attaching lug that mounts to the fuel fill. The bag locks on and also releases with a quarter turn. Remove the bag to fill up, then twist it back on.
