Well, the official site for these events is now live:
    SoCalDualSport.com

We also have a Facebook page located here:
    https://www.facebook.com/SoCalDualSport

There is a dedicated forum for these specific events here: (Hosted by: DualSportMoto)
    Local Riding - Southern California

(Registration on ANY OF THE ABOVE IS NOT REQUIRED to view the site or register for a ride. It is ONLY there as an added resource)

Happy to take suggestions, ideas, and thoughts on the new site. I'd like to get articles about how YOU camp off your bike and what YOU carry so I can put them up on the site.

This site was built for the SoCal riders by SoCal riders.

This site was built in coordination with 'bdarling' & 'x-country-rider'. This is not a rogue endeavor. :)

    Thanks for your help!

    Disclaimer:
I DID NOT get paid to build this site, I don't sell any products, I'm not making ANY money (nor will I ever), and I my only interest here is donating my time and abilities to the community. The section on the SoCalDualSport.com website entitled 'Links' in the main menu is just my own personal opinion of websites that I've found useful for my dual-sport and adventure biking endeavors. I am in no way encouraging or promoting anyone to click any of those links for any reason other than for information purposes only. I am not being paid to post any of those links, I do not receive any kickbacks or discounts, and I am not profiting from this in any way, shape, or form. The links posted are for safety, gps navigation, Dual-Sport and Adv Bike information, Organizations that promote our sport, local SoCal clubs, and products I have personally used. Thank you for your understanding.

Did read your disclaimer/disclosure...but what's the matter with ADVrider.com?

It almost looks like you guys are trying to create a commercial entity for a dualsport ride/event. :dunno

    Facebook...really??

Just my opinion, but I'm here because I like it here and it encompasses so much. I don't have time to keep up with X amount of other forums. I always get confused about what the point is of posting about other forums on this forum. http://dualsport-sd.com/ http://socaldualsport.com/ etc etc... Head explody.

No, we are NOT trying to create a commercial entity, I assure you of that. I've been called many things but a liar hasn't been one of them. I mean it, this is NOT for profit.

Nothing is wrong with ADVRider and the rides and information will still be posted here. There will not be information on another forum that can't be viewed here as that would be counter productive.

The point here is people get their information in MANY different ways, via forums, Facebook, Twitter, RSS feeds, and many many other avenues. The point here is simple, make the information available for users in whatever medium they so choose to view it in an make it as easy as possible to do so.

The first ride was posted on multiple forums and it took a TON of time for Blake to read every forum to see who was in/out and to keep the first post updated with a rider list. That problem has been resolved with 1 source for ride participants.

Once again, the rides are posted here and the other means of gathering that info are also available.

I appreciate the feedback, I just want to assure people it's an ADDED resource. The ONLY thing that will be a BIT different is via the forum post, you will be directed to the 'Ride Registration' page to 'sign up'. It's free, you just sign up that you're going on the ride and it will automatically update.

    ** EDIT **
I've actually gotten messages from 2 people that are unable to read ADVRider or Facebook from work, but are able to view the site. The site is just 'extra' visibility and an opportunity to make something cool :)

Strega pretty much covered it, but I would like to add that one of the reasons we had such a great turnout on the last ride is I because I reached out to as many different forums as I could. I intend to continue this effort, but bringing everybody to one place for registration saves me a TON of effort.

I think ADVRider is one of the most incredible resources on the Internet and I want to reiterate that we are not trying compete, rather consolidate our efforts. Work smarter, not harder.

Well I had a revelation this morning about all of this...

Maybe if I started building websites that looked sh!tty instead of professional looking websites, there wouldn't be any confusion. I guess when I work on a project, I don't settle for 'average'. :thumb:

I bet if I designed it like THIS, THIS, or THIS, no one would even have batted an eye, hehe :)
