Please join the New Mexico Off Highway Vehicle Alliance, (NMOHVA) for its 6th Annual Rubber Chicken Ride on October 27-29, 2017.

What is the Rubber Chicken Ride? It is an annual dual-sport motorcycle event in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico.

This year’s event is, as in year’s past, a fund-raising event to support NMOHVA’s work at preserving, protecting, and promoting motorized recreation in New Mexico. ALL money over and above the cost of hosting the event will go straight to NMOHVA’s Land Action Fund. You can check out NMOHVA and what we are about at our website:

    www.nmohva.org

Last year’s event was a near sell-out and NMOHVA is working hard to make this year’s event as much fun for the riders as last year. Latitude 33 will again be serving up their delicious food for our Saturday event dinner at the Pelican Spa (Red Pelican courtyard) on Saturday evening.

We will again publish our suggested dual sport routes (with difficulty ratings) ahead of time so riders have an easier time deciding what routes to enjoy. All of the rides are always “no fee” and completely up the event participant’s discretion. We are identifying more people on more routes for riders to follow. This will help keep the group sizes down and allow riders to better tailor their riding adventures to their desires. We will again be identifying “beginner friendly” and “big bike friendly” rides to accommodate a wide range of riders, skill levels and ride desires.

The registration limit will be 100 riders again this year.

Online registration for the 2017 Rubber Chicken Ride is up and running. Register HERE!

Registration for the 2017 event is $80 and includes Saturday evening dinner, a performance event shirt, event stickers, and a chance to win great gear and merchandise donated by the great manufacturer’s, dealers, and vendors who support NMOHVA.

All road riding requires a legal, plated bike per New Mexico statutes. There will be no "waiting list" so register early to ensure you get one of the limited slots. We cannot guarantee a T-shirt or the requested size for any registrations after September 28th.

The Rubber Chicken Ride has been NMOHVA's most popular event ever since we hosted the inaugural event. The 2017 Ride promises to be memorable. Come see what all the buzz is about. We hope to see you there!

Truth or Consequences (T or C), New Mexico is ideally situated to host an outstanding dual sport riding event. Situated in the Rio Grande valley on the largest body of water in state, it offers an extremely wide variety of scenic, historic, and just plain interesting rides in all directions.

East of the river, the terrain is primarily desert with sandy arroyos, rocky canyons and hills, and the infamous Jornado del Muerto (look it up!). Featured rides include the historic Palomas Gap (with several different options in a range of difficult), the Tipton Ranch loop, and the very difficult Apache Canyon for those seeking a lot of challenge.

West of the river, there is more moisture and elevation with the mountains rising to the crest of Mt. Withington at over 10,000 feet. Chloride Canyon, the Springtime Campground loop, and Mt. Withington are some of the long-time favorite in the area.

The weather is late October is generally PERFECT for riding with clear, warm sunny days and cool evenings.

Accommodations for the Rubber Chicken Ride:

All riders are responsible for their own accommodations.

T or C is a historic resort town. Located in the downtown Hot Springs Bathhouse Historic and Commercial District, the spas and bathhouses of Truth or Consequences are central to its history. The region gained recognition as a health center at the turn of the century, and in the 1920s, ‘30s, and ‘40s motorists flocked to area resorts. Today, there are ten historic spas in the central downtown area. One of the best aspects of hosting the event in T or C is that riders can park their bikes at a downtown accommodation and then walk to all of the Rubber Chicken activities. There are also many additional accommodations ranging from small, local hotels to the typical larger chains up on Interstate 25. The more "local" you choose to stay, the more $$ probably stay in T or C!

The 2017 event will again be headquartered at the Pelican Spa in the historic downtown district.

The Pelican Spa is actually five different properties, all in close proximity in the downtown area. Saturday’s dinner and raffle will be held in the courtyard of the Red Pelican. Let the Pelican Spa know you are with the Rubber Chicken Ride and receive a 10% discount on your room reservation:

    I'm in and paid!

FYI, The pelican is offering the 10% off for reservations until September 1st only, mention the rubber chicken ride. Also all the rooms in the Red Pelican courtyard are blocked out so that only members of our event can book them so make sure you call in to reserve those rooms and tell them you are part of the rubber chicken ride. 575-894-0055

We booked Latitude 33 again this year for dinner. Defiantly a great meal for Saturday night.

BREAKING NEWS!!! T or C now has a brewery down town... It's within walking distance (1- 2 blocks) to the downtown motels on Broadway. The owner has told me that he should be fully operational before the event, they currently only offer guest brews. They do not have food yet (only nibbles) but you can order out to some of the nearby eateries if you want.

Heard all about this event at the "7 Trails of Gold" ride in Grants but at the time thought the date was the same as our clubs "Howlin at the Moon " event. Now I see the Rubber Chicken date is one week after Howlin so I'm really going to try and attend. Probably/hopefully will be bringing a few other ATR riders with..........you have been warned ;)
