Did a little work yesteday: Rack installed (camping, here we come), ducktail removed, new driving lights installed. (Hella 450's instead of the too large 550's. The good news is that everyone is now stocking the formerly NLA fog light lens that I broke for $9.95. Went Hella when it was a choice between $99 550's or $289 replacement OEM Bosch foggers.)
Oh, I also got my ebay find circa '78 plate registered.
You bought someone else's old plate and got it registered in your name ?

Yeah, I tried to re-register MY old plates, but they wouldn't let me because I only had one (rarely keep front plates, neither of the porsches really have provisions for them.) In the course of the conversations, the clerk let on that as long as I had two, I was golden.
The bad news is that the circa '92 plates I found for the 968 were registered as recently as 2005, so they wouldn't go for it. (I have a sneaking suspicion that the guy who was dealing with me was over it after dealing with one. He had to call someone and have him explain it over the phone. I can only imagine, from his responses, what was being said on the other end.)
btw, When I went into the DMV, there was a SWEEET Beetle with '64 plates.
We prefer the term "classic vehicle."

BTW, just met a guy on the supermarket parking lot with a '87, not restored, original paint and interior (even had factory installed phone from first owner) 85K miles and he wanted $20K for it.
I told him to post it up here, because of a certain air of fanaticism regarding these old things. He said he'd put it for sale in the Boston area.
It looked absolutely brilliant and sounded fantastic.
I didn't get his info. What can I say, I'm poor......

I think your roof rack invokes memories of the '70s. Two leather suitcases, smoking a pipe while driving through the Brenner pass on his way to Italy. The Persuaders theme running in your mind will help this picture.

Only if the wheels fit proportionally and 6's and 7's don't. 7's & 8's I would agree.
The rear wheel wells look empty.
The (crappy) chrome kills it for me. If I cared, I'd have them stripped, polished, and re-painted. As it is, they make a great spare set for winter (offroad ) tires. I prefer the ROH's.
