What a month! Back in first, but only just after another 3 weeks of NL Central slugfest.

Speaking of slugging, a 443-foot 3-run homer by Holliday and a grand slam by Craig tonight!

Kelly and Lyons could suddenly make a big difference down the stretch with Westbrook now on the DL and likely to miss the next two HUGE weeks with nothin but Bucs and Reds in sight! Oh, well...story of the season. That'll be tough, but then the Cards close with 19 straight games against 6 teams below .500. (OK, Nats are right *at* .500.)

I have to agree with you. I personally think that the 'Tards are the most well rounded offense in baseball. And this coming from a Braves fan. But for those saying that this is a weak division is stupid. In years past, possibly. But this a year to year game. The Bucs are gonna be tough to put out this year. And saying how they faded last year and the year before is dumb too. That's why they signed Liriano, Martin and now Byrd, Buck. Theyre not gonna be pushed out so easily this year.

By the way, ya'll are tied for first now:D

    Come on, Braves.:clap

Really? Every time I turn on MLB tonight, it's Yadi this or Craig this. Deservedly of course. But what about MLB leading Braves? What about NL avg leading Chris Johnson.:D

I'm not counting the pirates out of blowing it until it's mathematically not possible for them to blow it. :-D

Kozma is out of the lineup as of Monday with "the Wong era" upon us at 2B. Descalso is at SS tonight in Cincy. El Birdos need some bats, and Kozma just isn't hitting. Release the Wong.

    A. Craig twisted an ankle and had to leave the game in CIN tonight. STL just left two on in the 8th inning of a tie game.

Meanwhile, Liriano and PIT getting roughed up tonight in MIL. It's only the 4th there, but I was beginning to think that guy was unbeatable.

With CIN back in the division race, it's just getting better and better but FFS come on Cards!

I think Matheny pushed his stars a bit too hard before the all-star break. Yadi is worn to a nub, Wainwright is worn out.

Rookie manager's mistakes. We'll make the playoffs, but how far can we get?

Our pitching staff hasn't been impressive the past couple of weeks.

I'm also looking forward to all the wong memes.

Man, they do look tired! Lynn with 4 straight losses--he hasn't won since Aug 4. Team hasn't won two in a row since Aug 27.

Wainwright tonight vs. PIT. Big game for Adam and for the Cards.

Two more vs. PIT and then some well-earned, um, favorable scheduling.

Looks like a sweep of the Pirates :clap

Now if the Dodgers can just give the Cards some help with the Reds tonight :deal

I'm also a life long STL fan. :clap

Not long ago, I wouldn't have bet on a sweep of the Pirates. Good to be back in first as Cards enter the last 3 weeks of the season, with 19 games against 5 teams with an average record of 62-77 (only WAS, at 73-69, has a winning record).

Props to the Reds, who are still hanging tough and, IMO, a real threat after climbing back into it. But more props to Waino, who came back from two drubbings to shut down PIT. That's the stuff of champs.

Tonight the Cards were no-hit by MIL's Marco Estrada for 5 and 2/3 innings. With 2 out in the 6th and the Brewers leading 1-0, Matt Carpenter hit a sharp grounder which caromed off Estrada's ankle and bounced to short, play was close but the throw pulled the first baseman off the bag and the no-no bid was over.

Busch Stadium crowd cheered the hit, then gave an extended ovation to Estrada.

Cards on a 4-game win streak, PIT on 3-game win streak. PIT already with a win today, and CIN blasted the Cubs.

    I love September.

Waino gave up two runs in the first thanks to a dropped fly ball, but settled down and has contributed 2 hits and 2 RBI tonight in Colorado to help put the Cards up 4-2 in the 6th.

With 11 games to play, STL went into tonight's game one game ahead of PIT and 2.5 ahead of CIN. Just one week after sweeping 3 games in PIT, the Cards have still not managed to open much of a gap in the NL Central. That's because the Pirates went on to sweep the Rangers in Texas, then returned home and took 3 of 4 from the Cubs. The Bucs were looking forward to continuing the long homestand against the lowly Padres on Monday

But the Pods! They win today, they've beaten the Pirates in three straight, and they'll go for the 4-game sweep in Pittsburgh tomorrow.

    I give that :thumb :thumb

Edit: trailing by one in the bottom of the 9th, COL leaves bases loaded as Mujica strikes out Todd Helton. Cards win 4-3 and are 2 games up with 10 to go.

    That's moar :thumb

Here we are a week later and the Reds have pulled even with the Pirates at two games back of the Cardinals with five to go.

Michael Wacha (WA - kah) has no-hit the Nationals through seven and the Redbirds lead 2-0 tonight at Busch. He's hitting his spots at 97 mph, then dropping the changeup out of sight. It's kinda freaky.

Got an Ozark rendezvous Thurs/Fri, then I think I'll head to STL for the weekend. Cubs are in town for three games to close out the season.

The NL Central will field three playoff teams with 90+ wins each.

Edit: OH HELL Wacha loses the no-no with two out in the ninth as Zimmerman hits a chopper over the mound, juuust out of Wacha's reach, Kozma barehands the throw, pulling Adams off the bag. Matheny immediately pulls Wacha and Rosenthal mops up with 6 pitches.

Meanwhile, PIT leads 6-2 going into the top of the 8th in CHI.

Could be a great day for the Cards, CIN and PIT got beat today and MIL is on their way to beat ATL If that holds true the Cardinals will hold the best record in the NL and have home field advantage throughout the playoffs, well assuming they maintain that record for the next 3 against the Cubs :clap :clap :clap

Thinking about heading to STL for the weekend.... not sure I can pull it off but would LOVE it if I could.

Do it! But good luck scoring Tix for Cards vs. Cubs. Playoff tickets might be an easier grab.
