    Hey,
I was planning on heading down to 16 this weekend and was hoping to stay at Hungry Mother on Saturday night.Their web site shows no tent spaces available. Anyone know another spot right around Marion where I could pitch my tent? I want to ride 16 on Sunday, so I want to stay down close to 81 for Saturday night. I can't do any real unpaved as I will be on my Bandit.

Oh they have plenty of sites that you could use. I wouldn't worry about it. If you want to camp in the woods there is a fire road on Walker Mountain on the right, half way up, past the park. Ride out that and you'll have it all to yourself. Nice camp spot all the way at the end, next to a creek. It's a easy road, not too rough for you.

Stony Fork CG was nice too, passed through it on my travels last weekend. Near Big Walker lookout.

You more likely to be open on a Monday rather than a sunday, right?

The tree has been dead for a while and is a threat to my house and more importantly, my neighbor's. It has to come down, but I was hoping the guy could have gotten to it on Friday.

Great to find a thread with all this talk of SW VA. I grew up in Wise and live in Big Stone Gap now. I just picked up my first dual sport after a long break from motorcycles. I skimmed over all the messages and saw some chatter about a SW VA meetup. I may be able to help with some arrangements if anyone is still interested.

    :wavefrom Norton.

We are finally out of our rental house and now have a little space to host a meetup as well. Maybe it's time to revisit the idea.

    Sounds like fun.
Even a beer and burger somewhere. Maybe even a scooter dog.

Hey Andy. Im headed to your area later in Oct. and would like to have some local knowledge of what's good to ride in the Big Stone Gap area.

New thread for those closer to NOVA, roughly covering the Martinsburg, Winchester, Hagerstown, Frederick & Chambersburg areas. If you're up this way, check it out: MAT Riders

I will be out of town camping and mountain biking in Brevard, NC the weekend of the 28th. If you're around any other weekend I should be able to show you around.

Thanks Andy, the Bevard area is a great place to hike and Mtn. bike. We were down in Bevard in Aug. and it was really wonderful.

Forgive me if this is common knowledge in these parts but I just discovered the appalachianbackroads.com website with it's nice collection of already mapped ride routes and area information.

That's a pretty comprehensive list of the good roads around here.
