Last April I did a lap of OZ with LOWRPM and while we were sitting in a pub in Darwin I saw an XTZ. I remember reading the writeup that LC8TY did on his project and thought it was a great concept and a great bike.

Well now I've got one too. A 98 model with 26000 k's and other than having 11 years of grot it looks pretty honest. The 1200GSA is now for sale and when that's sold I want to do a few mods to the XTZ and take it where I was too shit scared to take the GSA.

It arrived from Brisbane tonight and when I went to take the seat off I realised I knew bugger all about it, can anyone help me out with an owners manual?

Very quiet on here.. Just a quick question if anybody is out there, Is the rev limiter able to be bipassed and let it rev that little higher.. Very annoying cutting in as you start really giving it some.. And what is the best pipe to fit? Thanks Shannon

Finally took my bike to the mech to get it fixed, after the noise problem... it got to a stage where it would not even try to kick over... not having a on off switch for those lights didn't help much... anyway when i get it back next week, i am thinking about trying to work out the wire that powers the headlights... so i am wondering if anyone has made a light switch mod ? so then one can turn off the head lights ? if so, then which wire is it ? both the lights have a yellow wire going to them, but i can't seem to find where it dissapears to once the loom goes under the tank.

Just wondering if anyone knows of a good way to reinforce the front fairing brackets under the radiator as both sides of mine have cracked.. Any ideas would be great!

    Cheers

back again with more news, well after waiting for a week for some kind of hint on what was wrong with my bike, i was told what the problem was, you could have hit me in the back of the head and it would have been less painful, :muliethen they told me how much it was going to cost to replace the parts... just the parts alone... $1000, plus labour on top. so i told them that i couldnt afford it right away, so i told them to put it back together so i can pick it up and put it in the garage till i had the money to fix it, well never am i going to go back to yamaha to get anything fixed, they decided to charge me $185 to pull it apart to work out the problem, and to put it back together. talk about a rip off, i'll buy genuine parts, but i'll never go there for anything else.
anyway i picked it up last saturday, and now my bike is at another mech... a husky dealer, who has told me a different story, and it wont cost as much to fix it, and has cost me nothing for them to look at it. oh and they looked at it first thing on the monday, not a week later.

So far this bike makes me:rofl :smile6 trust me on that:nod Makes me remember the feeling I got when I was 15 and borrowed a Husquarna silverpil over a summer, flying over the fields. Fortyfive years ago that..
