Yep. I think I got something in my eye...
I think we have a winner!
You have got to use a neck brace, it does not have to be leatt, but it certainly helps!
This for me is the money shot! Great photos c.vestal!
Bill took the ones in tech.
I second that! I've now got whisky and coke all over my keyboard.
I don't know, I vote for any of the other ones
You know you should be here racing
i'm not sure you even have to use one, but if you do, leatt will want to check and certify.
from memory they wernt mandatory at the 2011 event
are they now?
Sorry Deadly. (not really )
Thanks a million for all the inside info and pics! This is awesome!
May I suggest you try Bourbon and Pepsi instead.
PS: do you know Lisa Niblitt in Mukilteo? Good friend of ours.
i agree... best one yet.
btw - thanks for all the photos, c.vestal - it feels like we're getting so much more of an insider view of the all the lead-up stuff than we F5'rs ever have had before... it's awesome to see!
also... your SmugMug account loves you; you've gone from an average of 4k photo views per day to almost 40k in the past two days :)
Thanks. I'll give it a shot on the next bottle. Any particular flavor I should try?
Nope, The name doesn't ring a bell. I haven't lived here too long.
I think I'd be soiling myself at that point.
My "Rides 2011" gallery in Smugmug is a bit more... ah... local.....
Say "hey" to Jonah and Ned.
Try to stay away from the race bikes, kay? They don't need their silencers all gummed up.....
One day I'll be there....one day....

2011 they had to be checked at scruting but you didn't actually have to use it.
Leatt to check and certify other manufacturers braces?
Glad you got there ok and are prepared for the main event. Your living my dream and doing it right, Good Luck! Me, my family and friends are all watching and wishing you well!
Mark, your travel agent.
Ned, Ted or Chris, Was just thinking about the 3 bikes and had a question. Bill and Jonah's bikes are EFI right? Yours isn't Ned...what's the jetting plan for all the altitude changes during Dakar? Will you rejet the carb after pulling it off the bike, or do you have extra pre-jetted carbs ready to swap out as req'd?
Thanks for including us on your ultimate adventure!
Chris and the rest of the pixel pimps,
Thank you for your efforts and time spent documenting the dream of one man coming true and to create an opportunity for the rest of us to feel a part of such a grand endeavor.
Few men or women will ever have the means, opportunity or courage to push the boundaries of self. And it's a great privilege to be invited to glimpse the heart of the journey itself.
Thank you all.
very best of luck on this huge adventure
