Front Royal has a moto cop(un-affectionately called Robo cop) that has given just about everyone in the county a ticket. They dropped the speed limit on some of the roads leading into town to 25 mph, where they used to be 35 and 45! Money grubbing town!:boid

They are talking about doing the same on the last road that is still 35...

Waldo Fl has a speed trap that is so bad that the AAA has paid for a billboard just outside the city that warns motorists of the impure intentions of the Waldo cops.

It's one of two such AAA sponsored billboards in the country. The other is a few miles from Waldo in Lawtey.

Waldo is bad because it sits right on 301, which is a main route through FL for people coming from the northeast side of the state to the West or Southwest.

I drive through Waldo to go to Gainesville, Tampa, or diving in Central FL. I go 5 under every time.

I should keep my mouth shut, but I can't.
I hate speed traps, but I hate the media more.

"Speed limits are supposed to be based on factual studies of traffic and what the majority of motorists deem as a safe speed," said Chad Dornsife, director of the Highway Safety Group . "Now, the posted limit has become a revenue generator¬ónot a safety device."

I will bet that this is misquoted. A highway safety director saying motorists determine a safe speed? really? I think 80mph is safe for me to drive, but the 16 year old kid or 80 year old that has the reaction time of cold molasses....... doubtful. I have seen the media misquote and turn articles to the writers opinion many times.

The article states Houston police wrote 3,000 tickets per day. Sounds a bit exaggerated and it doesn't say "speeding" tickets, so does this number include criminal and traffic violations.

Hmmmmmm, I think I'll do some digging and find out.

I-77 near Wytheville, VA; just south of the tunnels. :ddog

The officer had pulled a car heading in the opposite direction before I even put my helmet back on.

Virginia (Hwy 77 in the tunnel area) and West Virginia along rt 19 are definitely places to watch your speed if you have out of state plates.

Saw an interesting one on I-20 between Atlanta and Birmingham on the way to Barber. They had "Survey Crew" vans out on the highway and the radar was being shot by a guy with a 'transit' and orange vest on an overpass. Must have seen 10 cars pulled over on either side of the road including all the NASCAR wannabes that flew by me earlier.

I always seem to find em in places like this :norton
