Every time I see one of those JMV lower fairings I start wanting one really bad. But I think I read a few years back that the lower fairing is no longer available.

Is that true?

Oh.....a "new" new one. The more I see those the more I think I may get one after they have been out a couple years.

Very nice,

Jon...

How is that bashplate?

The bash plate is worth its weight in gold!
The bash plate kit also has the oil cooler relocated up on the right side of the forward cylinder.

I abused it last year on a few rides sliding over gravel drainage berms on a trail up to Crown Point Mine and over several logs on our local trails.

This year in Whitehorse I had to dump the bike onto its side to avoid a frontal impact with a Pontiac Wave. When I laid the bike over on to its left side the bash plate was the part of the bike that hit the rear bumper of the car. It tore a small hole in the cars bumper and folded the cars wheel over so that the tire came off the wheel. Bash plate rear bracket is bent slightly, but do other damage. The GIVI/Kappa side case has a little rash on the lower side, but that’s all that happened.

I picked the bike up, looked at the forks and found no damage. After looking the bike over I could see the car tire tread imprint on the bash plate. That is the strongest part of the bike.
If it had not been for that plate I am sure I would had bent the exhaust and probably broke the engine case.

Unlike some other bash plates, the bottom is a solid plate, no holes for the exhaust cross over tube. And the plate fits up tight to the motor. It also came with the oil cooler relocation kit, new hoses and bracket for the cooler to attach to the side of the cylinder. A very nice kit. It’s a little more money than some of the other bash plates, but I would buy one again in a heartbeat.

Is this bike still in the PNW? Looks like it...I almost bought it (what, 2 years ago now?) but went for one that came with panniers instead. Do you ride many dirt/gravel/where-the-hell-are-we roads?

I went down to Tampa to visit one of my friends who is performing with Cirque du Soleil. We partied with the dancers after the show and one of them really liked my bike.
