sweet bike fury
I insured mine today - want to grab brekkiie at the flying swan this morning ?
Congrats Fury. Since this is advrider, I know you'll want to get rid of the plastic skid plate. I came up with a way to use the SW Motech skid plate with Givi bars that works great. Tested it last weekend with no problems.
Here are a couple action shots from my ride yesterday.
I missed this invite, sorry. I actually went for my first ride this morning. 6:30 to Squamish for breakfast with my usual group. Next time perhaps, Thanx.
I have to say I am very impressed with the performance and comfort after coming off an FZ1. The big DL reminds me of a GS1150 I rode once... only more power, lower seat, and cheaper. Hehehe. I am gonna have alot of fun touring with the Strom.
Nice skid plate, but are those 2 clips strong enuff to do the job? A hard impact would push the plate into the pipe.
I thought the same thing at first. As a matter of fact, the clamps were originally only going to be temporary until my machinist friend could mill up a custom bracket. I installed them and was surprised at how sturdy they are.
Two things help out. The rubber on the clamps will not allow them to slide at all. The clamps are really torqued down on the bars (1" clamp diameter from the fastener section @ Lowe's). In addition, the ears on the clamps are short enough that there could be no travel into the pipe on a bend.
However, I did have to bend the tang of the plate forward a little to mount. The aluminum does bend pretty easily so a real hard hit could bend the tang back without moving the clamps. It's taken a couple of pretty could bumps and came out well so far.
An alternate bash place / crash bars
made of steel and will NOT move.
That looks pretty good. Leaves the oil cooler a little vulnerable, though.
I looked into this wondering if the oil cooler is really a problem. AFAIK, there has not been one report of an oil cooler failure on a Strom w or w/o a bash plate. Seems like a phantom concern.
A pic with the new Holeshot exhaust.
Another with the headlights toned down with Lamin-X dark smoke protective headlight film.
Looks great SC!
Waiting for the Sunset . . .
Had a couple of awesome days in Vancouver here. A dusting a snow on the local mountains provide these scenic pics.
This is why I love this bike.
Excellent find! Now that's what I call a V-Strom.
...nascar styled strom, that is.
SWEET..... Looks like a 21" front wheel... I'd either like that or for Perelli to make an a Scorpion A/T that fits the strom....
All these pictures are great.
But where's that DL650 fully equipted with the 4 sale sign on it.
Where's my V-Strom??
The hubs, discs and rims there say "Africa Twin" to me. Could well be a borrow job. Looks decent for a strom, not so sure about the rusty weld on box under the tank and the odd exhaust system. Bit of sticker overkill too.
