After getting back from a long trip and having to look for a job again I'm about to unload a big pile-o-parts that's been taking up space in my garage in order to pay the rent. It seems like there are a huge number of "what's it worth" threads on here these days so maybe it's not a bad idea to consolidate them into one thread like we did with "Craig's Thread." Anyway, I have a pretty good idea of what most of my stuff is worth except for a big old luftmeister fairing that came off a friend's /7. It's painted blue with the white pinstriping, the windshield is in great shape, the paint has a few minor scuffs, and yes, it has the little pockets and they're in perfect shape. Anybody got a good ballpark price for this thing? Here's a pic of the same fairing that I ripped off from Blaine.

Stuff like this is in the "who wants it, how soon, and how deep pockets are",
You do not see many of these these days, but still a choice for commuting/all weather riding. Bad is heavy and large.
    Put a price and wait...

Honestly, I can't GIVE mine away. I think $50 bucks would be fair for some one that actually wanted it. There has to be someone out there that does...

Did you mean how much will it cost you to have someone take it away?

Maybe a movie would want to add that to a bike for "period" effect?
Bolt it to the front of your Cadillac to keep bugs off your windshield.
That's all I got right now. Good luck ~

The cost of shipping that thing would kill most deals. I'd cart it and whatever else you've got to a nearby bike event like Mid-Ohio.

I sold one on Ebay two years ago for $50. Shipping was almost $100 and it took hours to box it. Never again. Put it on craigslist and take the first offer you receive. Or, put it in your front yard and use it as a planter.

    Amen,

Looks like it might have 'yard monument' potential to me :1drink

Technically that's mine in the picture and it's currently "attic monument" hehe. Maybe I'll dig it out 20 yrs from now and think it's neat.

Funny you should say that as it's actually currently sitting in my front yard. :lol3 Sort of an attempt at '70s ugly sculpture / a passive attempt at making it disappear.

That's tough when you put a "free" sign on something and a week later you're trying to get close to it with the lawn mower. :cry

I have the exact same one, black and blue, so it fits my 1978 r80/7. The only reason why I haven't trashed it yet is that when I bought the bike, I transported it in the bed of a pick up truck, and as I laid the bike down on the truck, it partially laid on the fairing. The former owner, who was a very sweet grandpa, said "be careful, you don't want to break that". Obviously, he paid lots of money in 1978 to get that fairing, it mattered to him, and now, I would feel like a jerk disposing that horrible thing.
But really, I don't think it's worth anything. Maybe one day it will?

Back before Aerostich when we weren't all wearing a fairing, those things made light work of covering serious miles. :thumb

    Now?

But hang onto it a few more years, and it'll be 'period', 'desireable' & above all 'rare' - 'cause every other bugger will have already ditched theirs....:huh :huh

    Or not...

Reverse it, add chair frame and some custom cushions, and you've got the coolest camping chair around :thumb

I'm in the same boat. I have a somewhat rare "Califia" Fairing that I've been moving around for 15 years. After spending 1 1/2 hours removing it to get to the headlight electrics I never reinstalled it. Not worth the shipping cost / hassle. Can't bring myself to throw it away. What to do.......:confused

Leave it at the curb with sign: "Antique Motorcycle Fairing - $100".

It will be stolen by morning.
