Such an awesome thread! Thank you for all of the spectacular pictures thus far. This has really given me a more personal appreciation of history. Seeing the changes over even such a short time is fascinating.
Viewing this thread I noticed my reactions to an image differ with the time lapse. Wonder if anyone else has it too?
When the time difference is 100 years or more the feeling is more positive, looking at what has been preserved. But when the difference is less than 30 years it is more sadness, getting fixed at what has been lost.
Do these count?
Seems so. The tree present in 1982 is gone in the 2006 photo.
and the wall is one row higher
...and a sidewalk complete with oil drippings!
I wondered if that was you that did that
I had to go back and look, I myself had not really noticed the 'sidewalk'
Don't I wish the oil was from me. That would imply that I was out there - probably enjoying the rides.
Gotta love riding Colorado National Monument.
It sure looked neater and tidier in 1982 to me.
Or is that the mist of time?
