Belated trip report from Minneapolis to Yellowstone, GTNP, SW Wyoming, Colorado, RMNP, Nebraska, Iowa, and back. It all began in Minnesota... the weather was hot...

The heat, unbearable. Must have been 90-95 degrees in western Minnesota moving into eastern South Dakota.

My buddy riding a Triumph Scrambler 900 went down around a gravel turn going 30mph or so. Bent his shift lever, which in turn bent the shift spindle. This in turn broke the oil seal around the shift spindle. Oil was spewing out until we bent the shift spindle back a bit. He shifted for the rest of the entire trip without an L-Shaped shift lever. The L part broke off!

So after SW Wyoming, we hit the road and didn't really stop until right outside RMNP. Camped. Then the next morning headed into RMNP.

The F800GS handled the altitude changes beautifully. RMNP is the highest drivable pass in the US. 12,183 ft!
