10th annual transatlantic trophy match races.TZ750 vs RG500 vs Superbikes etc.
2 time AMA F1 Champ Rich Schlachter and the TZ.
I know that the Loudon/Laconia track was way different back then, before the car oval, but the bowl used to be ran in the opposite direction then today huh?
And is the TZ in that last pic a 250 or 350 twin? I can't see if it has 2 other pipes sticking out.Not sure if it is a 500 or 750 four cyl.
750/4. The TZ750, a later model one. I have a ton of pictures I'll post later.
AAMRR ran 1 race a year backwards called Noduol.
I loved it because it was heavy on the leftys.
Dig the novice plate CBX in the background!:eek1 A guy used to race one of those around Wentzville back when we used to race there. Ca-ray-zeee, lol
White w/black numbers=expert
Yellow w/black numbers=junior
White w/red numbers=novice
At least in AAMRR back then.
carlsbad mid 60s
Is that a 441 Victor?
2 piece leathers no zipper?
No, it's a Gold Star 500 . . . a DBD34. The winningest motorcycle of all time. From the mid-30's to 1961 (the 1971 B50 "Gold Stars" don't count as real Goldies), the Gold star was road raced, dirt tracked, scrambled, trials . . . you name it, someone was racing either a 350 or a 500 Gold Star. Great bikes.
Nick Richichi won the "Laconia Classic" in 81. This 82 shot shows the pinstripper still applying a sponsers logo.
Thanks for the correction. When I wrote that I was wondering if the yellow plate thing was universal.
Besides racing with him back then, I got to go street riding with him a couple of times. We never went over the speed limit even once.
Dale Singleton (left)won Daytona twice on the TZ checks out the competition. Loudon 6/82
Old TZs are cool, but Superbikes have always been four strokes!
Agree, there seems to be some confusion between Grand Prix bikes and Superbikes.
Would appear so.....hey, we still race them here, do you guys?
That'd be Steve Martin, ex WSBK front runner, now commentator, and World Endurance champ. Lapping Phillip Island on a Katana, quick enough to qualify for last years moderns....
Bootlace, love yer pics!!!!!!!!!!!
