I did the 500 mile service at the Orlando location and they charged me $250.
It would most likely happen if the chain was too tight from the get-go; it might then develop stiff spots when being ridden and the swingarm movement caused it to get very tight. I'd also want to check the countershaft seal on this bike, as it might have subjected to abnormal stresses.
Nice set-up by the dealership and/or nice catch by the factory trained technician who spent 3 hours doing a 600 mile service. I didn't put a dial gauge on the primary sprocket to chek for runout, but after a 3000 mile trip together I haven't noticed any oil seepage at the seal. These little Triumphs are well made. (fuckin dealerships)
For an oil change and chain adjust (if even done properly). My BMW R1200GSA only cost $212.00. (the last time it will ever see a dealership for routine service). I admit I took it to a dealership in NC while on a trip for a failed fuel strip replacement under warranty, and after having to put up a fuss to even get them to do it, they screwed up the routing of the throttle cable while replacing the fuel tank, causing high revs in left turns. They even test rode the thing before giving it back to me. Morons. I didn't bother to go back, or tell them about it, I just fixed it myself in a hotel parking lot. (fuckin dealerships)
Yea, I call bullshit too. Even if it was run too tight from setup to 600 miles, the wear would occur relatively evenly across the chain because 600 miles is not enough mileage for sprockets to get out of round, or for there to be enough cumulative wear across the chain for there to be a marked disparity in link wear from one segment to the next.
Agreed. I've known and worked with many, many honest, hard working people at dealerships. They typically work very hard and are rewarded with meager livings. They do this because they truly love motorcycling like most of us here. All too often they get tried and convicted in Internet courtrooms just like this one without ever getting a chance to speak for themselves. Yea, I've run into some fucktards in the business too and I know they exist, but you've (guitarin) made it pretty clear you have a problem with *every* dealer. I suspect the source of your trouble stems from the lowest common denominator

The same non-existent chain that never got mis adjusted on the tiger that never went to the fuckin dealer for service.
