I know she don't look pretty...but it sure has capacity. Fit a 20 pack today...with a little lube, I might be able to do a full case. :rofl

I realize this thread is stale, but it is on point, so. . .

I'm considering a full set of Bumot luggage on a new 800 XCx.
I'd only have the top case on around town.
Thoughts on whether this looks too ridiculously large by itself?
And for mounting, any reason why I can't just bolt it down without an adapter plate (I've never once taken the box off my current bike)?

edit/afterthought: At 6'4" I'll probably end up with a Madstad windshield, maybe that will balance the look (by making it equally ridiculous on both ends :hmmmmm)

To me, all top boxes seem too large for aesthetics. That is why I have an OEM top box with mounting hardware just sitting in my garage collecting dust. I'll probably never mount it.

Most top boxes are just too big for my liking. My bike came with the factory box. Too big and placed too far back. It looks odd hanging way out there. I have a Givi Trekker 46 as my top box on a plate I made that holde the box further forward than any available mountin option.

If you need the space, who cares what it looks like... Personally, that case looks a. It to 'boxy' to me.

I ran a small/medium Pelican top case on my Tiger. The current case on my Multi appears huge by comparision.

Has anybody tried to "fix" the OEM top box to eliminate the rattle? I haven't looked at the mounting bracket in a while, but I'm thinking that a few strategic welds might do the trick. Would love to know if anyone else has given it a go yet?

I've just ordered a set of the Bumot boxes except that I'm getting the smaller 25 liter top case. Just installed the Madstad.

I'd love to see photos of the 25l top box when you get it (and hopefully sneaking in some off topic shots of the Madstad too).

Here's the Givi Trekker 52L on top of the 15 XCx.

+1 on that. I'd like to see it too as I'm considering the 25L box myself.

Anyone know if the Bumot mounting plate for the 800 will fit the 1200? The advmotorrad website didn't list one for the big guys.

Try contacting Jason at ADVMotorrad - PM "rotaryracer." He's been incredibly responsive to me, and I haven't even bought anything from him yet.

Got a quick reply from Jason. No go on the Bumot stuff for the 1200. Seems it's hard to get a bike to prototype in Bulgaria.

I"m using the Givi Trekker [IMG]52L Topcase when running around and need large capacity. I've got the 33L on order and will likely use that if I don't need to store my laptop and other textbooks. Here is the pic.

I like this size and shape on the bike.

I'm not completely in love with the latches, which need to be turned. But they work fine.

The new Happy Trail stickers are horrible, but they come off easily.

I note the dimensions of the base are different than photos on the Happy Trail web site indicate. Actual width of base is about 11 inches.

The tie down brackets on the top are different than pictured on the web site. Personally I think they should be oriented sideways not front to rear. Might remove them and re-rivet if they bug me enough.

The slot-hinge design sets up the lid to slam into the box when you open it. I put a strip of car door protector on the edge, which helps a lot and should keep it from chipping a line across the side of the box.

First lid they sent me didn't fit right, the lock was slightly off and prevented the lid from closing properly. They sent me a new lid, gasket, and hardware. Took about two weeks, but they did right.

Overall I'm satisfied. Happy Trails makes very solid products, although not quite as polished as others (such as the Bumot panniers I put on).
