OK the wife is on my butt to get some new rubber around the Ural. Back is slick but the hack and front tire look kinda ok. I might as well replace them all and get some that are round this time.

So tell me what you use. Knobs are out of the question because it spends 99% of it's life on the highway. I took it 2 wheeling only one and broke three spokes. Now I'm grounded:huh

So what do you use and what fits?

    Hey DeeeWayne! :wave

I am absolutely sold on the Heidenau knobbies. Even on the street, they handle so much better than the stock ROPC tires. They last about the same however. :waysad

    Greetings to your fine family.

I'm running a Duro on the pusher now, so far it shows very little wear after 3k and I expect it will last much longer than the RPOC tires. I've ridden in all types of terrain (including 10cm of snow) and it has just as much traction and very similar handling characteristics as that of the Uralshinas.

If you decide to sell the Uralshinas, I'd be interested in them.

From the looks of that pic, you have plenty of tread on those tires. The first set of cords aren't even showing.

Just all part of the EVIL PLAN. Hey Photog my money is on you showing up at Hot Springs next year with your own.

BTW my wife would get rid of me before she sold her Ural. You should have heard the tongue lashing I got for breaking the spokes.:cry

Wouldn't the shipping be more then the tires are worth? Hell their not even round, more like egg shaped.

That was the first trip on her. She has had many since then and no tread but I'm not to the cords yet either.:D

After I posted, I thought that may have been an old picture.
The big thing on a Ural is the sidewall strength, so you are limited in 19" tires.

I have run the egg shaped uralshinas and have a Duro on the rear now, and it seems to be holding up well. The dealer in Ohio, heindl engineering, gets $69.95 for them.
Ural rims aren't too round either, so i suggest trying dynabeads in them.
Some of the guys have been running Avons, with great success.
    Avon MKII
    4.00S1965S
    4-ply sidewall and tread
    maxload = 640lbs @ 36 psi
    load range = B
And a few of the guys run Excelsiors. Great mileage, but they suck in mud. I think they run around $80.

If you get a chance, go to www.sovietsteeds.com
The forum has a lot of feedback on tires and other things.

p.s.: I have the harbor freight tire changer if you need it to put on the tires, just swing by and I'll give you a hand. I am in Hendersonville.
