In just over a week I will be heading off from Toronto through the states to Mexico, down through Baja, take the ferry across to Mazatlan and then continue south. Ill be travelling with Richard from the Vancouver area and Gary from Northern California. If all goes well we'll be in Ushuaia some time in late February or early March.

I'm riding a 2012 KLR 650, Gary is on a Gen 1 KLR and Richard is on a Suzuki DR650.

I'm in the last stages of getting ready now (panic) and can't believe how much prep it has taken to get to this point. I've had just about everything off the bike and it has upgraded suspension, new tires, reset valves and much more. I'm looking fondly back to the old days when it was grab an extra pair of jeans, a couple of t-shirts and a sleeping bag and go.

I'll try and post updates here on a regular basis, so please drop in from time to time to see what is new.

I've gone through the same phases but you will get in the zone after about the first 1-2 weeks and crave saddle time every morning!

Safe travels and maybe we will meet on the road.

Well, the adventure has started. Gas stations are a bit thinner on the ground here and the service station at the exit I was counting on had a big hole in the ground next to it because they were replacing the tanks. Was told the nearest gas was 9 miles back up the freeway. I was already on reserve and made it about halfway when I ran out. I pulled the bike onto the grass and made use of the emergency reserve (why is that idiot tipping his bike over at the side of the highway. This got me exactly back to the ramp and the nearest gas was 1/2 mile away downhill!

Maybe time to start filling up the rotopax.
