There's a reasonably active singles thread happening down in the basement; Inmates department, and a few of us were wanting to meet up. In that light, I offered up my home as a basecamp for a weekend of festivities.
It'll coincide with the solar eclipse that will occure on 8/21, viewable not too far North of here. Meet up will be at my place the weekend of 8/19-20. I have a guest room, couch, floor space, tent space and a friend/fellow inmate offered up the same a few blocks away for potential overflow.
Expect a very low key, informal meet. You're on your own for food and beverage (though I do have a fire pit and a cookout would be fantastic)! This is for single ADV Riders to meet, get to know one another and put faces to names. There is quite a bit of riding available in the area, both off pavement and on.
This is not billed as a "hook-up" thing and should not be viewed as such. Please be respectful of others.
    Located in Laramie, WY.
Please R.S.V.P. via PM, details on location can be provided at that time.

Hope to see some of you here!

That's a 3000 mile round trip for me, but if I can afford it I'll be trying to make it. My worst day ever was in Rock Springs, WY. Need to give the state another chance! (not that WY had anything to do with it!)

    Awe....

That's the same weekend as an ADV ride in Meeker, which I've already signed up for and reserved an RV spot.

Any body linked with She.ADV? Should let them know!

I've never been to Laramie. Sounds like a good road trip!

They are about female rider support and training.

I don't believe that they would really get behind a singles meet up. At least that's the impression I have from being on the site and meeting them last week at the Overland Expo.

Great idea, and I'd be interested, but I already started advertising an Idaho ride that weekend for the eclipse.

    Didn't know that....about she.adv.

But it's more than the meet&greet, right? Major trip and a first for me, the eclipse, Going through WY, riding a new area, and then the camaraderie.... Meeting adv people!

I'm a curious sort when it comes to travels and riding so I had too look up those places.

What's sick about Albany? It looks like a fun ride to an interesting place. I see there is a wild horse sanctuary there and a restaurant for lunch.

Ames - The pyramid is different. I like that type of thing.

Redfeather - the lake in Colorado? I couldn't figure out where you were referring to with this one.

Albany trail system, not the road TO Albany :deal This gives a good representation of those trails:

Ames is cool, just a weird thing out in the middle of nowhere, but a part of western history. Lots of roads to get lost on out there, and there's Vedawoo, Red Canyon, and lots of vistas. Redfeather is just south in Colorado. Lots of nice forest roads, heavy timber, open meadows, from easy roads to mellow singletrack (and rough singletrack) to gnarly jeep-type stuff, and it has an active fire tower you can go up and, like, learn stuff from the Ranger that stays up there (it's actually pretty neat, and views are incredible!). Then there's the Snowy Range west of town, but haven't really been up there, so someone who knows the area would be better suited to lead. Either way, as long as your tent is staked down tight, Laramie is a cool, funky, laid-back college town :rayof

Nice video but that would be way over my ability even on my dirt bike right now.

Ames does look interesting and the paved road to get there would be in my ability.

That trail is actually quite doable, I think if you tried it and just kept calm you'd be surprised how much fun it is.

Just remember to laugh instead of be pissed off when you drop your bike :)
