Is there an Alaska route? Or is it required to travel to the lesser 48?

TOH is a self-directed ride. You pick however many sites you want to visit and whatever route. Some riders turn it into an Iron Butt ride and get a special certificate from IBA. Riders who visit seven or more sites get a finisher's certificate and pin at the end of the season. First three riders to visit all the sites in state get a trophy.

    There's a FAQ and Rules here: http://tourofhonor.com/pages/rules.html

turning this into an iron butt at the same time would be awesome! How would we make that happen?

Gimme an hour or so after the list of Alaska sites is posted on April 1st :deal and I'll have a possible route or two plotted. :cromag

Then we'll have to see who's up for it. :nod

Heres a link with details on Iron Butt/TOH rides: http://www.tourofhonor.com/pages/iba.html

Basically, you visit any four TOH sites on an Iron Butt ride, submit to TOH for verification, then submit the email verification along with your other paperwork to IBA to get a combo IBA/TOH certificate. Visit all seven sites in one state and receive a IBA/TOH-Extreme certificate.

All IBA rules apply. Visit here for IBA rules.

    Good luck!

Just so you know, trophies are awarded to the 1st three riders to visit all seven sites in Alaska. If interested, sign up soon to get your gear by the time sites are revealed on April 1.

Jack, I would like an email as well if possible. I am down for making up for my lack of riding last summer due to my deployment.

Unfortunately, there's a possibility I will be in training for most of the summer in the lesser 48. If that happens, I will look into riding down and hitting the sites down there.

In less than 2 weeks, sites will be released, and it's quite a lineup this
year in California, Nevada and Arizona. In total, 49 states and 305 memorials to visit: a great way to see the country!

The Tour of Honor recognizes those groups and individuals who have paid
the ultimate price, or are presently risking their lives, for American life,
liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. A portion of registration fees goes to
Fisher House Foundation, Operation Comfort Warriors (American Legion),
or Police and Fire, The Fallen Heroes. TOH is AMA sanctioned and IBA
    approved.

Since this post dealt with doing the ride entirely within Alaska, it has been moved by the poster to the Alaska forum in the Regional section. All Alaskan riders, and others who might be interested in doing this tour while visiting the Great Land, are invited to join us there.

    Have fun!
