Rob, Just starting the planning phase of an App Spine run next year. I sent an email to 2 email addresses you had listed in this most excellent thread. Thanks for doing most of the heavy lifting in this effort.

I'm planning a number of shorter weekend runs in the NC mountains during the upcoming year to prep for the trip and I'll send you everything I can to help the cause.

Thanks again for all the work. Looking forward to receiving your latest gpb. Running 276c, Map Source and City Navigator 2010 by the way.

Due to the overwhelming amount of email requests for routes I won’t be replying via email any longer. From now on you can download the routes from my Facebook profile. This profile only contains motorcycle related content and friends so you won't get spammed by my nephews birthday and other unwanted content, etc.

I’ll will be posting updates to various other routes and sharing other good stuff as well..

Check for posts to routes on my Wall, routes are linked to .zip files, unzip and you'll find gdb, gpx, kml, etc.

rob23, I'm interested in getting these tracks, but can find them neither in your facebook "about" area, nor in other links in this thread, nor in your other thread:Appalachian Trail Motorcycle Route (AT)

Is it possible I need to Friend you to find the file?
How about just editing your first post in this thread, and attaching the track file (this is now possible, but probably wasn't when you started the thread)

I finished the TET, and would like to do the TETs, but chip won't provide it any longer, so was hoping to follow your route from WV through GA, this winter or early spring.

I realize that the track is probably out of date, but would be happy to send you my tracks and comments.

Thanks for all your effort on this project. I'm sure you get tired of supporting it, but hope you can just post what you have. Then others can post modified tracks and/or comments.

Hey I am super interested in these tracks. I am trying to plan a Northeast loop from TN to Niagra and would love to pick up some of these roads.

OK, I've now ridden most parts of the AT from central PA to the south end. Some sections were missed, because I was also riding other trails, particularly the SEAT, near the south end.

Anyway, I found this southern part generally pleasant, and suitable for street bikes, as well as dual sports, though it's clearly dated, and could be better organized. Since I missed some sections, I hope others will post their findings, too.

One warning, the gravel road is blocked in section AT1013_TN_VA, at N36° 25.467' W82° 10.633'. This looks fairly long-term, as they dumped large piles of rip-rap before the washout, from both directions. You can get around the rip-rap piles on a motorcycle, and under one tree, but there are two low trees, a bit more than a foot high, that would stop a heavy street bike. There are Road Closed Ahead signs, coming down from the north, but I didn't notice them south of the closure. Also there's an alternate rout, AT1013_TN, which bypasses this closure.

Recommendations: if you're looking for a good adventure from Florida to Canada, consider first taking the SEAT from Florida to Tennessee, and the TransAmerica Trail Long Way Down (LWD) from there to Canada. The only thing I don't like about that route is the LWD drops down near the coast of Maine at its far end. I haven't ridden that route, but I'm guessing it's less wild and scenic than a more northern route, such as the no-longer-available TET. Other northern trails I've found all end short of Canada. Never fear, though, NorthernTraveler, who developed the SEAT, is working on a new route to replace the TET.
