I thought others might enjoy seeing this diesel-powered, dual-sport, concept bike that I found on a Dutch website.
    http://www.evamotor.nl/Motorcycles/Track/track2.htm

    From the website:

The Track Motorcycle will be a Diesel powered turbo intercooled powerplant.
    Standard Features:

Semi and automatic shifting a 6 gearbox
    Rear + Frontwheel drive hydraulic
    Shaftdrive
Personal Digital Assisted (PDA) Electronic management
Ergonomics on seat hight , footrest and handlebar position
Travel-package intergraded in the design when needed
    Progressive brakelight and headlight
"Raiser" a lifting device for parking and for lifting out of desert-sand

If you go to the main page of the site, www.evamotor.nl there are some other neat concepts and aftermarket parts including some of the first 1200GS parts I've seen.

    Enjoy,

    John

Sounds good. I don't know why there haven't been other diesel bikes out there.
I've been driving diesel cars for almost 30 years. Would be easier to get fuel around the world also.

Yes and no - apparently it's a conventional engine that burns diesel for power

It's a purpose-built diesel engine placed in a KLR chassis with upgraded rear suspension.

I'm getting one as soon as it's available.

Could be cool but it doesn't look finished. Not sure how it can be a GS killer with so much stuff hanging unprotected off the engine and what looks like a rear wheel off of a bicycle.

I LIKE IT!! It's got to be easy to work on. That engine would really look cool with some accent lighting. :)

The CV trans is a good idea for an engine with a small torque range.
The frontend is off the KTM 950A.

Looks pretty well thought out, but that tiny turbo sure is in a vulnerable spot.

Well that's pretty... ugly...:puke2 (in my opinion).

Okay, so it's a prototype... guess I'll have to wait to pass judgement on its appearance till a production version :huh turns up (maybe someday?:dunno ).

but a lot of the bits on this one seem... How do you say... vulnerable. (or half finished as someone previously put it).

As far as the; "...a BMW GS killer with KTM LC8 drivability and Suzuki Hayabusa-like torque.” quote goes however...

Well, what else would you expect the managing director - E.V.A. CEO Erik Vegt - of the company behind the bike to say...??? I think (once again) that I'll probably pass judgement on the reputed performance of the technological wonder, until a (little) more impartial party gets to test ride the bike...? :lol3

    Mind you, this shows some promise for the bikes future potential;

It comes with three pre-programmed ECU settings enabling it to be switched to run on 100% Pure Plant Oil (such as sunflower oil) or into a highly efficient but lower power diesel economy mode... “It’s the ultimate long distance and long life motorcycle that can run on diesel fuel or 100% pure plant oil,”

... so I guess when you're out on one of those long and arduous "advenure rides", that you can always pull up at the nearest "greasy spoon" or roadside dinner and fill up with a bacon & egg sandwhich for the pilot, and a gallon of "deep frying" oil for the scooter! :rofl

I LOVE diesel powerplants. Too damn bad they are always overpriced. Sure, they get great mileage, but it would take you 20 years of fuel savings to pay for the overbloated price tag.

Come on manfacturers...diesel power has been around for eons. Give us a no cost option for a diesel engine in cars at least.

I have an idea for a motorcycle powered by a Mazda RX-8 engine that should look something like that.

The bike looks pretty top-heavy and the rear swing-arm doesn't seem to have any anti-dive mechanism. But it does look pretty Mad Max.
