About a week ago, me and my friends finished our Croatian off-road tour. First par of it was on TET trail which was a blast to ride. I made the first part of RR in my thread over at LC8 part of this forum. Click HERE to go there. If you are not so much into reading, here are a few pictures to tease you ;)

Hopefully this project lives long and we get a chance to do some other parts of it next year.

EDIT: HERE is part 2 of my RR and conclusion with some thought on TET.

    TET Talk - UK

In the style of TED Talks but with added alcohol and chat, the first "TET Talk" is to take place on 3rd March 2018 in Reeth, North Yorkshire - plum on the TET UK. It's a ticket only affair so we can judge numbers and sort out food but it should be a fab opportunity for experienced TET Riders and wannabes to meet up, swap tales of daring do and make plans for the coming summer season. It's a couple of weeks before March Moto Madness so no excuses! [IMG]

Any money left over after we've paid for the meal and incidentals will be split between Teesside and North Yorkshire TRF who work so hard to keep our trails open, Pikilily, an NGO run by Jupiter's Traveller Claire Elsdon in Tanzania and the TET (we have some plans up our sleeves!)

It'll be a welcome injection of laughter and cash into rural Reeth out of season and, as home of the Scott Trial, Swaledale loves bikers.

    Tickets are available at https://www.jumblebee.co.uk/tettalkuk

    See you there!

It's working fine now. There's some work going on on the server so that may account for any temporary problem. :-)

I did some sections of the Peak District TET in the UK yesterday. Sunny Autumn day, slightly damp ground, and super crisp temperature.

My gear is sh1te and my bike cost me £700. But I love my 'little' (heavy bast*rd) KLR. It's great for a newbie, and I have never had a single mechanical. :muutt We are the same age, almost to the day. It was first registered 29/07/92. I was first registered 03/08/92!

This part of the TET is on my doorstep, so I'll be riding on it all year round. I'll be sure to get some pics over the different seasons uploaded! Anyone riding in the area who's not from them PM me and if I can I'll ride out and show you around.

Top of the Cat and Fiddle, open under new management so be sure to stop in for a bite to eat and a pint (of juice).

Hi Kev, sounds like a great trip - it’s the sort of thing I’m looking to do in a couple of years. I’d be interested to hear how you get on with the CRF250 Rally, particularly over that distance. I was thinking of a Yamaha XT 660 Tenere (or the 700 if it ever arrives ).

If you’d be willing to share your kit/set up too that would be great - perhaps with a ‘what worked well, what didn’t and what I didn’t need to take with me’ type report when you get back

Hope you don’t think I’m taking the mick, just trying to do as much research as possible !

Anyway, best of luck with the trip

    Matt

Hey! I just found this thread, after enjoying the FB page (Trans Euro Trail (TET)). It is interesting to read the early posts and the TET's growing pains. :) I'm super pleased that you guys have managed to make it work.

If there is ever a hint of trying to get something through Switzerland (yeah, I know: go ahead and laugh), I am happy to help. I don't have then language skills, but I am willing to try!

Matt this year I’ve decided to go back to Morocco, I went last year and had to cut it short, so I’ve decided to do the trails again this year, about 10 day in Morocco, I’ll be riding down on the Honda rally. I would love to do some of the tet but I haven’t got the time,
I’m heading to Italy end of June so there’s a good chance I’ll end up doing some of the tet.

    Thanks Kev,

I’m thinking of getting a CRF 250 Rally so would be interested to hear your thoughts on how it performs on a longer journey

Best of luck with the trip, sounds fab !

The CRF250 Rally is quite a nice bike.

I am new at motorcycling and it is my first bike. I bought it new last year, in May and headed to Iceland for 3 weeks in July. It is underpowered for motorway (2000 kms from France to Denmark to catch the boat) and it was a bit tricky in Germany. 110km/h is the sweet spot. At 135-140 km/h, it struggles but you can do it during 2h without any issue.

In iceland, during 3000 kms of gravel roads, F-Roads, deep sand tracks or rock fields, it performed well and I did not feel the lack of power (except in the sand).

I dropped it hardly, twice. Low sides fairings are quite exposed and fragile (I choosed to cut them, for my next long journey). I bended shift, brake and clutch levers.
The suspension are too soft but works fine if you ride gently (I am 70kg with the equipement an I had 20kgs of luggage in Iceland).

The range is not so good (300km max) and you should consider buying a set of barkbuster (OEM handguards are crap).

I am acutally planning to go to Romania and Croatia this summer, at the end of June, and I will probably ride some track sections of the TET.
