I bet I could ride my FJR over that route. I should do that some day just for grins. Maybe I'll wait until it's a little older though. :lol3

We rode the trail yesterday with NDR and a special guest - Jim Parks from RoadRunner Magazine. NDR was honored to have him along for this event. A 220 mile dirt loop from Winstead to Greenfield to North Adams and back south via more awesome dirt roads. Good day on two wheels for sure.

Man, you NDR people like to ride close to each other. Must be rough to be the guys at the back of the train. Or was that just a photo setup in the 3rd picture?

When we ride in groups, especially off pavement, we try to keep it to 5 or 6 bikes max (3 or 4 is better) and space ourselves out a lot. No reason to eat dust all day. Just have to wait for the guy behind you to get within sight at any significant turns. It also helps if everyone has their own navigation running so nobody gets off track. That also allows everyone ride at their own pace, once we figure out the best order.

Those were just the photo op shots for the magazine. We are well spaced otherwise and have several guidelines in place to ensure safety of the riders. We had two packs of riders that day with a 5 minute lag between to keep the packs manageable. We have successfully run 230 rides in the last 5 years and have it down to a science at this point.

Ahh, good to hear. Sorry for being overly critical. That photo just didn't look like much fun.

I could understand your angle - but what the photo does not show is that I am at a stop sign and off my bike while taking the picture as the riders come to a stop behind me - thus the close proximity. We ride at a very spirited pace usually - and need a ton of room in between to ensure we're safe. I invite you to join us for a ride as my personal guest so you can survey NDR for yourself. Just PM me if interested.

I was also on the TMT last weekend. All the roads on the route are still open as per the gpx file. There was a section on Curtain Road that was pretty "marbley" due to some new gravel laid down. The short downhill on Bullit Road in Ashfield has been graded and improved. Otherwise the route is in great shape for a big ADV bike. My Tenere had no problems.

Thanks for the video link. Never seen that video before though I recognized most all of the footage. It really is an easy ride on any big ADV bike, or even on a street bike with a little caution. There are one or two sections that are a bit more rugged than the rest, and I don't see those sections in the video. Maybe those are more recent additions?

The route has not been changed since inception - road conditions may vary depending upon weather/road grading etc.

Ok....folks....this is kinda of weird. Since 2013 I thought I was riding the TMT. But...a couple of days ago, I loaded up Keith's TMT V.2(from his You Tube link) into Garmin Basecamp and noticed it was totally different then what I had been riding...crazy. It's been so long I don't know where I got the "winstred2green.gpx file from. Does anyone know? The North & South gpx files are below. It's a great ride and probably 80% dirt. So this week (wed., thurs., fri.) I'm gonna ride both the TMT and what I have been riding and make a loop out of it. If anyone wants to join in I wll be staying/starting from the Becket Motel (hopefully...haven't booked yet). Yea...I'll be riding my WRR, these roads are perfect for this bike, especially if you want to go out exploring some of the tighter stuff that might come up. And easier to pick up, I had a 2015 Tiger 800XCx.

P.S. in the pic...blue is TMT

Cool, but...are you color blind? The two tracks I see are lime green and purple.

Alright....I'm booked at the Becket Motel. Gonna try to do 3 loops of the TMT and the Winsted to Green Routes , starting Wednesdat, will be close to 200 miles round trip. Both routes are pretty close to the Motel. Will start off going south on the TMT(clockwise), hitting Johnson rd 1st(3 miles from Motel).

Should be doable. Our loop is 225 and while a long day it's manageable
