I will be headed north to south on most of the route 8/14-17 for the touratech rally in Huntington PA. Anyone else going this way?

That's great. I am traveling to the Unadilla NY MX that prior weekend 8/12 and will be camping a bit south east from there in Downsville,NY with some other inmates. So I plan on traveling from the camp in Downsville on Monday, travel west to northern end of the TPAT down to the touratech rally.

Can anyone recommend a place to camp in the Rothrock and Bald Eagle State forests that is close to this route?? There are several state parks, but something remote would be preferred. Also looking to remote camp somewhere off route 6 between Ansonia and Sweden valley.

When we were doing recon for the Purple Lizard Pine Creek Map we often based out of Asaph Run Campground just a few miles north of Ansonia off Rt 6 in Tioga State Forest. It is a primitive campsite - just a restroom, about 10 sites, picnic table/fire ring, first come first serve. Really pretty location along a stream. There are places south of Rt 6 in Tioga and Tiadaghton SF where you can find a primitive campsite along the dirt roads and a few remote primitive sites that have room for 6 or so tents. Only a few decent Motorized Campsites in Rothrock, but over 70 in Bald Eagle. All of those are shown on the Purple Lizard Maps of those State Forests. Those sites are free but require a permit from DCNR if you want to insure it will be empty when you get there. The State Parks are sprinkled throughout the State Forest and most of those all have the usual amenities of showers and many have a swimming beach. There are a few smaller ones with more primitive camping - Penn Roosevelt is my favorite in Rothrock, also a first come first serve, but it is usually pretty empty.

Thank Mike H. I have altered the route listed on this blog to accommodate more forest roads and camping in State Parks. First Penn Roosevelt then Kettle Creek. Right know I am evaluating if we have too much mileage per day. I will look at the Purple Lizard Map if I can find it. Thanks again.

The Asaph run campground is a hidden gem. Even the Colton point state park campground at the north end of the west rim road is a good choice because it gets little use.

I am running an amended version of this route the weekend of 9/8-9-10. I have altered the route to include more forest roads and allow for camping (NO motels). I chopped off the top section past Anastoni and cut across 6 and down 141/44. I'll post this and ride report later. Look for us - (2) Tiger 800 & my white Wee Strom.

This looks like a great route down to my buddy's place in Greencastle, Pa. just off the southern end. I ride a Triumph Scrambler and a buddy rides a BMW GS 800 out of the Buffalo, NY area. this looks like a 2018 trip for us. Thanks all involved in its conception and exploration.
