We at Rally-Raid Products will be going to Turkey, first week September, for Transanatolia Rally Raid 2013, 4th edition.
There will be 3 Rally-Raid Products KTM 690's, fitted with our latest EVO2 Rally kits, ridden by myself, Jeff Webster and Perry Newton (one half of the infamous "Kevin & Perry do Dakar" from Malta). Also riding a KTM 690 with our Rally-Lite kit fitted is Donna Gray (of Torque Racing) looking to repeat her win in the Ladies Class and also Alex, another ex-pat Irishman who lives in Malta.
We will have the latest Tractive Suspension rally shocks fitted, for further testing of these new products.
We will have 2 prototype rally Tripmeter/CAP Repeaters on 2 bikes for evaluation, working in conjunction with Garmin Montana GPS units. This is a first try on our EVO2 Rally set-up and we are very interested to see how they compare against our previous ICO/ERTF units.
Last final shake down will be this weekend at Thetford Forest before shipping all bikes & equipment to Turkey.

Our transport & assistance will be done by Torque Racing, who we used previously on Tuareg Rallye earlier this year.

Saturday saw our last shake down of the bikes before they are packed of to Turkey. But very excitingly it was my first test of the new Tractive rear shock.

Well chalk and cheese was the phrase for sure! I was blown away by it performance. It was smoother than a cashmere codpiece! I noticed instantly that it made my forks work better too, Bonus or what!

Watching KTMmitch in front of me also gave me the opportunity to watch the shock work and it looked as good as it felt. :norton

The other noticeable improvement was how the back end tracked whilst accelerating out of gravely/sandy corners. It didn't snap out loosing traction but had a controllable slide. Very confidence inspiring. I look forward to using it in Turkey as i found it very hard getting the grip our of the loose corners there last year.

    More from Turkey! :-)

Sponsor pulled out last minute from what I heard. A bunch of riders will be joining us in Serres instead.

Bummer for all those entered and had made plans.

Due to the late cancellation of Transanatolia Rally by the organisers, we have no time to reschedule our transport and holiday time for the proposed new dates offered.
However, we will be travelling to Pyrennes with Martin & Donna of Torque Racing so that the 5 riders who were going to Turkey to compete can do a 1000km roadbook trip. This has been hastily organised at the last minute with a lot of effort from Torque Racing, and should be an excellent 5-6 days riding in Spain as a substitute for Turkey.
Good luck to all those other competitors. It is a shame after all the build-up to have to re-arrange on the eve of an event, which happened to several of us in 2007 after the cancellation of Libya Rally.

Yes I second that.. thank you John.

It is indeed a really shame the sponsors dropped out of the event last minute. I hope they realize the loss of money and disappointment they have left people with. Some people saved and trained for 12 months or more for this event. And For many people an event like this are a 'once in a life' time gig.. It's a real shame for them.

Not forgetting the work the organisation have put in. They are all lovely lovely people and i feel very disappointing and sorry for them.

Lesson learnt that if you are offered sponsorship get the monies first. Maybe the event should be less of the nice 5 star hotels and more of a typical Rally bivouac style, Making it cheaper too? Any thoughts people??

If I had signed up to do this event with torque racing how would that leave me, ie, still have to pay the deposit? still have to pay the full amount?

All rallies offer full refunds in event of cancellation,as do Assistance teams, less admin costs. You should also have Travel Insurance in event of non-payment of refund.
