I've got a friend that raced the NCHSA series a few years ago on an older XR250 with about the same power and weight as the XT. While he wasn't winning races, he was running mid-pack. 18HP is adequate for *most* situations. Not exciting, but it will get you up hills and out of the mud.
    That said, I wouldn't own one. :D

Any of you guys ever seen the TW folks up on 129? They used to come up every year. I ran into them years ago. A bunch of TWs with street tires tearing up the mountain roads. It was funny to watch them pass other riders on a 16hp, fat tire, 300lb bike. It seems that little bike is well suited for roads without straightaways. :lol3

There is no competition for the badge, which is great. I saw two motorcycles this morning, "oh no, possible tag thieves". Then came the loud Harley exhaust, "nope, no brucing today".

I didn't check this, and rode there this morning.. (there are a few fun trails around there from my house...)

    And they have good coffee..

If it's still there this afternoon, I'll get it...

I need some help finding some beginner trails. I have descent 3-three riding skills (that need dusting off) and can hold my own on a mtn. bike. However, need some basic dirt to learn on.

    Yes on the bi-polar Strom.
Looking for simple, beginner trails. I need to start somewhere right? After lots of practice, then I can join you with the dirt Evil Knievel skills on the boulders, trials riding and motorcycle winching.

I would be night tag competition if I was able to ride more!! I'm not liking the new Tapatalk app. Can't figure out how to quote a post.

If you don't mind a bit of a ride, the Caswell public game lands have miles of doubletrack, loose gravel roads/trails. The gates are usually open on Sundays with nary another soul in earshot. I live about 15 miles south of them and they are just south of Yanceyville on NC62. Bonus that Badget Sisters Pkwy has some sweet curves just before hitting Yanceyville... although there's not much in town to ride for.

    Thanks for the location.
It is a little far to hit up for sneak attacks after work. However, closer and less populated than uwharrie. I don't need an audience, nor cameras.
