    Hi

Does anyone have latest info on bike travel going East through Pakistan.
where to avoid, security escorts etc.

presume Turkey & Iran less risky.

    thanks Joe.

No, it´s not closed, but you will need to get in touch with a tour operator in China, who arrange a guide to meet you up at the border. The guide will travel with you in China. This has to be arranged months in advance, and it costs an astronomical amount of money compared to what the rest of Asia costs. You have to also think, if you want to support the Chinese government (that´s where this money goes).

China is certainly possible, I am there now, as has been said you need to book a tour and be with a guide but this can be a convoy of several cars and/or bikes, our group has two 4WD and a Honda Africa Twin. It costs a lot and takes some organising but our guide has found us camping for nothing and great food for not a lot, for me it has been worth the expense to visit places I would not otherwise get to.
Routes are available from Kyrgyzstan or Mongolia to Pakistan, Nepal or Laos or the reverse of any of these.
