since I've checked into your RR thread. What great scenery your sharing here for all to see. Great job! I've been to almost every area you've covered here with the exception of Montana, Salem and Imnaha. I've been from Hells Cayon to Wallowa Lake, Joseph up to Lewiston so many times and have never took the turn to Imnaha. I keep missing Ladybug's Hells Canyon Gathering, and they've gone down there too. Maybe later this summer I'll cross Imnaha off my bucket list (fingers crossed).

Anyway, great thread and I hope you add a bunch more this riding season!

Thanks Mr. Admiral, do yourself a big favor and take that turn-off for Imnaha! Neat spot, then go up to Hat-Point if you are equipped for some rough roads. (after July1)

I really enjoy blasting around central oregon, the coast is great, but there a lot of peeps out there.

I have also been tempted by the Ladybugs gathering, maybe.....:evil

Last Friday afternoon i skipped out of work a bit early and made my way from CdA, ID down to Dworshak SP. I routed thru Moscow, then over to Kendrick, via the Kendrick grade road. From there i traversed the highlands on the Southwick Rd, then out and down to the State Park. The road into the park is, well, challenging.

The friendly but surly Park guard-lady got me checked-in with extra humor at no extra charge. They even delivered a bundle of firewood to my camp site. I liked the spot i found.

I had a nice view of the lake, and a great evening here.

With the usual morning camp activities performed, it was time to head back up the hill toward the blue sky. The view on top over the Clearwater basin is nice.

I headed over toward Orofino, but first i took a quick detour to see what created the lake. The climb up to the view point is a sweet twisty road too! Dworshak Dam was one of the tallest concrete dams ever built, at the time of constuction. Pretty Impressive.

They must have had some left over concrete and so decided to build this little picnic shelter. Pretty stout i'd say.

I thought this was interesting, the means and methods are astounding.

After fueling up in Orofino, my next stop is Aquarius!

With the fuel cell recharged I headed East up Hwy 12 along the Clearwater River, to the Greer Settlement, which just a tiny burg. There the Idaho Hwy 11 ascends the Greer Grade for about 5 miles at 7% grade and 100% curve factor. If I was more thoughtful I would have some photo evidence, but seeing as how I was behind bars at the time, I was busy! Once atop the plateau the Hwy arcs gracefully through the small towns of Weippe, Pierce, and Headquarters, with some interesting sights along the way.

This looked like a bad day for these folks.

    The old town...

I don't really see it, can you?

If you have a worn a little flat spot on your rear tire patch, this route will soon wear the sidewalls off to give a round profile again. From Hwy 12 to Aquarius it is about 65 miles of twisting and writhing undulations that will either wear you out or energize you. I heated up my tires for all I was worth till I got to the North Fork of the Clearwater River.

This is river that feeds the Dworshak Reservoir, and today it is running rapidly with the spring melt off.

All the tributaries are running full as well
    [IMG]

This is where you find Aquarius
    [IMG]

The road to Headquarters looks like this..

    Is this the Headquarters??

After a couple more hours of flogging the VFR, I ended up in Lewiston at the Hells gate State Park.. Mmmmm Cold Beer in a nice shady spot on a warm day.

I packed up camp in Hells Gate and rolled out of Lewiston on Hwy12 upstream... I rode up through the bucolic highlands above Juliaetta and Kendrick.

I always get a kick out of this one.

Had big ole plate of breakfast here. This place is excellent!

Made a quick stop at the top of the White Pine Hwy

We planned for a Memorial Day Weekend trip to go find some hot springs, and to just have some fun. Not to be daunted by a little damp weather, we pulled on the rain gear before we even left the driveway. Such was the start to our weekend getaway.

While we did splash through a few showers, things definitely started looking up! :clap
    [IMG]

will get the rest of the story posted in the next few days, cheers

Friday afternoon, we motored across the panhandle of Idaho and western MT to get to Missoula. The weather mostly cooperated as we had just a few light showers and then only partly cloudy skies by the time we got to Mizzoo. Friday nite we just got a dumpy motel room and some beers in the room and unremarkable chow. Regardless, we had a good time, and we are out of town for the long weekend!:clap.

Saturday AM, we woke to overcast skies, but generally a nice day.. We got fairly good start, and headed south on 93. Now Hwy 93 is the main commercial drag-strip out of Missoula so there is nothing to report on here till we got about 60 miles south of town, where we were soon enjoying views of the Bitterroot range...

Shortly we rolled into Darby MT, where we had a terrific breakfast and enjoyed the small town scene.

You can get a nice new touque here..

Keep an eye out for hungry wildlife critters.
